hah! I went to look in today's UG catalog to see if that was what prompted both of you. Not in mine, but I was just perusing it.

We had plants growing in torpedo shells at our place in Jamaica. Very terribly strange.

My parents' umbrella stand is a brass ammo shell/casing of some sort (looks like a 3 ft bullet casing.) I'm not sure if it is WW1 or WW2. Makes a great umbrella stand. My dad used to love plundering army and navy surplus stores, mainly for the optics, but he picked up other neat stuff along the way. We've got all sorts of repurposed objects. We have a lamp that's made up of a propulsion device radiator core. You wouldn't know it.

Dog is my co-pilot.

Her fervent wish was that no one from the team would have to attend her delivery.

I can't tell you how many kids of co-workers I've taken care of. All but one of them did fine eventually.

On the bright side, one of the sickest kids I ever took care of (and am still in touch with) turned 30 in July. I'm happy but feeling rather old. I have her permission to share her early story and pics. Here they are.

I love Noah's and Grace's names, btw. My nominees for worst all-time twin names are Alfred & Alfreda and Elvis & Elvira.

ETA: I just followed my own link. Oh, to be that thin again!

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

What cute pictures!

Worst NICU names I've heard (true story!): there were triplets that were born and cared for at H. They were named Winkin, Blinkin and Nod. Seriously... that's just wrong.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I am sitting in a completely dark room (except for the laptop screen). Somewhere in the room is a black cat. Which I can't see.

Oh well.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

We have achieved a new high in sibling relationships.

Emmett and I and Matilda were playing on the floor and she was being cute and laughing.

Me: You have to admit it. She's almost as good as a finger monkey.
Emmett: She's better than a finger monkey.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

But does he think that when he has to change her diaper? If so, it's true sibling adoration. (Matilda is such a lucky girl to have such a wonderful big brother!!)

My mom's umbrella stand is a brandy (I think) cask that I found when we were in an antique store in Ohio several years ago. The name of the distillery printed on it is "Moran's," which is her maiden name.

My black cat is curled up under the computer desk with a paw draped over my toes.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

DH is at a RUSH concert. I am watching tv, playing on the internets and drinking a glass of wine. I suspect that I have just sent a puzzleing message to my DH. I justed texted him with the message " we need to build a stovemobile". It scares him when watch design shows, but he might like this idea.

and the cat, he thinks I should goto bed

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Emmett's coming around on the diaper notion.

Better than a finger monkey.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Aww, Beth. The SO really really really wanted to hit that tour. Alas, no cash. I tried to score some free tix off craigslist, but no such luck.

Emmett & Matilda are the cutest, smittenest siblings ever.
