Also, I don't see any shorts, even formal bermuda shorts, as work-appropriate in a business-casual environment. I don't even like to wear capris, though I've been wearing them to move books the past couple of weeks. The library director wears capris a lot, and I think to myself, I know we are in academia, but you should not look like you are at the beach!
They are considered business casual in Bermuda. I only know this because a colleague of DH's was trying to recruit him for a job in Bermuda. One of the perks was getting to wear Bermuda shorts to work.
They're actuaries, though. They all have seven pairs of khakis in various shades and a closet full of button down, plaid shirts. Only upper management wears anything closer to business formal (suits, dress shirts w/ties). DH is middle management.
Carrot Top in manpris. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Sometimes I think manpris are cute. THERE I SAID IT.
I've only had actual dress codes when I've been waiting on customers or a receptionist so was, in some sense, representing the company to the outside world.
This is the one place that dress codes make sense to me. I NEVER deal with outside world as an employee. Luckily, I'm at the right company.
If anybody's in downtown Chicago today and would like to participate (or just watch), there's going to be a pillow fight flash mob in Daley Plaza at 2:00.
Ahahahaha. I have no pillows here at the office, so I'm just going downstairs at 2 to smoke a cigarette and laugh my ass off.
My current employer (a hospital) has a stricter dress code than I'm accustomed to. No denim at any time, nothing sleeveless, etc. And we go a little stricter with the chaplains--the men have to wear ties, the women dresses/skirts or a jacket with pants.
I don't really mind, and I've been having fun dressing up more than normal, but I do miss my jeans. Guess I'd better hurry up and write that best-selling novel....
Jesse likes Carrot Top. There, I said it!
PLease -- that's bon bon.
Did I ever mention what a slacker I am? I'm amazed at how much stuff I can get done, and how fast, when I'm in a panicky, must-fix-this-now mode. I could probably be much more productive if I would just fake this panicky mode all the time, but.... nah....
I've only had actual dress codes when I've been waiting on customers or a receptionist so was, in some sense, representing the company to the outside world.
Right, that makes some sense. Evidently the whole "dress code" thing makes me super cranky! I think because I'm still getting over being pulled out of class during senior year of h.s. (when we could wear street clothes on Fridays) by the evil nun principal and getting yelled at for what I was wearing. Even though one of the preppy girls in my class was wearing the same exact pants! (wide-wale dark pink capri length cords)

Hee! Me too! Although i don't really like sandals on men or shoes and no socks and I don't know how you wear manpris with shoes i would approve of...so maybe they should stay on the beach. with no shoes at all.
