"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

Yeah, I guess I don't mind the dead as long as it's freshly showered? I don't understand myself either.

It will make us love him more? It would make us really happy?

I wondered about this the other day when the Jim Beaver thing happened. Is the character of John too built up now to be even playable?

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Honestly, I think Sam and Dean have moved on. They've faced so much more since John's death than they--or he--ever imagined they would, and they're really no longer youngsters in need of his guidance.

I would *love* to see John fighting on his sons' side--whether that's on the side of the angels or a whole other stand. But I don't think it's a practical story at this point, not with the plotlines and the arc as they seem to be unspooling.

I've mentioned before, too, JDM is at the age break point in film right now. He can be a known lead actor with a dues-paid background at 40 or so. But playing 50-60? Not going to do his image any good to be remembered by casting offices in roles older than he is. If anything, he'll go for younger.

None of which are meta reasons why we don't get John Winchester on our screens. But sometimes the meta is thin and reality calls the shots.

Things that make you go hmmm. Off my flist, food for thought:

Alastair/Alistair/Alisdair? How about Alastor?

(from various sources)

Alastor is chief executioner to the monarch of Hell.

Alastor is likened to Nemesis and the destroying angel and is known as The Executioner. He is exceptionally cruel.

Alastor ("avenger") in Greek mythology, was the personification of familial feuds. He was also associated with sins that pass down from parent to child. As a genius, or spirit of the household in Roman mythology, he incited people to murder and other sins. The name became a generic term for a class of evil spirits.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

I came out of the episode earwormed with Animal House and Donald Sutherland...

"Now, what can we say of John Milton's Paradise Lost? It's a long poem, written a long time ago, and I'm sure a lot of you have difficulty understanding exactly what Milton was trying to say. Certainly we know that he was trying to describe the struggle between good and evil, right? Okay. The most intriguing character, as we all know from our reading, was...Satan. Now, was Milton trying to tell us that being bad was more fun than being good?

OK, don't write this down, but I find Milton probably as boring as you find Milton. Mrs. Milton found him boring too. He's a little bit long-winded, he doesn't translate very well into our generation, and his jokes are terrible. But that doesn't relieve you of your responsibility for this material. Now I'm waiting for reports from some of you... Listen, I'm not joking. This is my job!"

I can't help it. I can even picture him taking a bite of the apple and I want brain bleach!

Every time they said or showed "Milton", I went there. I wonder what Karen Allen is doing these days?

Have we talked yet about Dean's time in Hell WRT to what he might have had to do in addition to what was done to him? I have a feeling those are the most horrible memories he has. I mean, for a boy who grew up fighting monsters who do bad things, having the tables turned like that is probably worst of all. This:

he incited people to murder and other sins

reminded me of that. Also Ruby saying (paraphrase), "You can't imagine what I had to do to get back here," when she was with Sam in the car.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Oh, just caught up on the last two shows. Internet has been splooey.

And you guys have made some valid point re: the ramificat.....HOLY FUCK, HOW HAVE YOU NOT TALKED MORE ABOUT HOW HOTTTTT THAT WAS?

I never liked Sam all that much but now (shallowly) I am in a panting panty-ripping 360.

The pick up, the hair pulling, the OMFG shoulders. More hair pulling, angry sex with EBIL.

Damn, the shoulders. Hooo boy, hot damn, that is speed to the MOTHERFUCKIN bunk. With roller skates.

Because books.

I don't know about anyone else, but the hot sort of stunned me into speechlessness. Bitey animal Sam suits me just fine, thank you very much.
