"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

I can see the ITB John in this scene. Huh.

Me too and I didn't expect that. In fact, I was expecting some things that were hard to reconcile, but it all pretty much fits.

Amy, yes, this was the first time that John physically appeared in all his JDMness glory. eta other than the night of Mary dying.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

What did you see, Plei? The tenderness? The cautiousness?

Yep. The quiet respectfulness, too. With Missouri. I mean, most of the interaction we see with him in canon is in the heat of a hunt. We don't see him outside the window of his boys very much at all. We see the father he became, but not the man he was.

Because books.

all his JDMness glory

And there's so goddamn much of it. Much as I love the boys, JDM is like my prototype ... type. YUM.

Okay, getting brownies. And more wine!

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

The only thing that wouldn't really have fit is Sam asking "for what", and "Why would she do something that like" if he had gone back in time too, so maybe it's best that JP wasn't available.

Very true. One thing I would love to read more of is John fic. Early years, when the boys were still very young, and he was newly alone and learning the life of the hunter.

I need to hook my iPod up to the Tee of Vee. And get a snack.

And that way it's totally retconnable that Castiel *needed* Dean to go alone. ::nods::

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

So we've concluded that John never learned of the things that go bump in the night from Mary; he learned about all that stuff from Missouri. And we can assume he became a Hunter more or less on his own. So I'm guessing that he never knew then that at one point Mary had been a hunter.

I've restocked on my tea. No brownies, but I have chocolate Tastykakes.

So it's very possible that all of these people that knew John, may have known Mary in her younger days. Or at least known of her since Grampa Campbell liked to work alone. Do you think Kripke planned this working so well, or was it dumb luck? Because I wouldn't have put us here three years ago, but this episode certainly supports where we are.

Hee, so we still don't know how much John knew and when he knew it.
