I don't think Sam was ever saddled with DUTY the way Dean was.
I wonder when John learned that Sam and the other kids like him were "special." I don't think he knew the specifics of what that meant until the show timeline (or perhaps that was the catalyst for the show).
I think Sam's "special" status must have affected the way John treated the boys.
Two new clips from tomorrow night's show. I thought that they were not particularly spoilery, i.e., they didn't give you more information than the promo did.

Brief interview with one of tomorrow night's guest stars.
I cannot recall if this is one we saw in the promo: just in case - do not mouse-over the link.
Guest star says s/he did not watch show prior to being cast- guest star's spouse did and now s/he watches to and is a fan.
I'm fairly certain s/he was in the promo, because I remember squeeing.
eta: The actor/ress was shown, but I don't know that the character was.
Does anyone have alternate sites for those clips, becauseI can't get them to load?
I think that the 3rd one was from the TV Guide website originally. (Don't know why it came up CBS. . . is TVGuide owned by CBS?)
I might try Seat42f or the CW website - although typically they haven't been showing Supernatural clips.
