See, I would think he would have thrown Dean's body in the backseat and went to see Bobby. I don't think he could abandon Dean (or in this case, Dean's remains) like that.

It suddenly occurs to me that in the timeline which is now erased, Sam probably would have had to abandon Dean's body in that parking lot, to avoid getting picked up by the police & turned over to the FBI.

I'm not sure I'm following your thought process here... I didn't notice any onlookers (am I misremembering?). So no one would have known that Sam was there when Dean was killed, meaning that Sam wouldn't have had to abandon his body so as not to be around to answer inconvenient questions. I think I'm more with Ailleann here -- I don't see Sam leaving Dean behind. If nothing else, he would have given him the Darth Vader/Viking big bonfire funeral pyre sendoff that the guys gave John.

there were sirens in the near distance, Morgana.

Ah, so at the very least someone heard the gunshot, even if they didn't see the incident.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I do think Sam would have scooped up Dean's body and fled the scene. I don't believe he would have taken him to Bobby's, though. I don't think Sam could have leaned enough on Bobby at that point to even think of including him in the process.

I'd like to see stories from both points of view, actually. I could be persueded either way, I think.

Beth, I got that sense, too -- the whiplash from heartbreak to funny felt very Buffyverse.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I don't watch SPN until Friday, so by the time I watch and come and catch up on everything in here, there's nothing left for me to say. Hence the lurkiness.

Not that I have any insights today, but that was fan-fucking-tastic. Like really good fanfic made just for my taste, but canon.
