Thanks Austin, nice to meet ya!
No promo makes me a sad panda *frowns*. With John Winchester it is interesting because I do think he's an asshole and I think that his sons have definitely paid the price for his asshole-dom. However, I understand the reasons behind it and maybe that is where the soft spot comes from. He is (was?) a man in serious pain and maybe that brings out the nurturer in me. And, like ya said, the actor is hot. Either that or it is a case of daddy issues. =P I mean I always had a thing for Giles (another 'ewww' from the fam). The funny thing is that the men in the Buffyverse are always more attractive to me when they are evil/bad in some way. So, though I do have a thing for older intellectuals with British accents, Ripper is hotter than Giles; though I have a thing for dark-haired emo boys (fangs notwithstanding) I like Angelus better than Angel and I will admit to shipper-dom at at least one point. At least Angelus has a sense of humor. If I had to choose a Buffyverse boy though it would be Spike. I am a fully converted Spuffy.

Ha! Here, come sit by me.
I blame Nutty:

He's a bitter widower who lost his wife to a demon; she's a pacifist vampire just trying to get by. Together, they fight crime!
At least Angelus has a sense of humor.
And leather pants! Musn't ever, ever forget the leather.
What's the quote that Lorne says? "Cause at least then, leather pants!" Something like that.
eta: I found it.
"I think I'm speaking for everyone when I say if all you're gonna do is switch back to brood mode, we'd rather have you evil. Then at least - leather pants."
Signed,
Embracing my OCD
Ahh, leather pants. Of course. Nothing goes better with a sense of humor and evil than leather pants.
Here's a wonderful Sam-at-Stanford story. It's image-heavy, so be warned.
Anne, you beat me to it! I was just coming here to post that link.
Great little story; what makes it even better is that Kimonkey is also writing the other perspective: I think she's going to tell the tale of what happened while Dean
was in Arizona for six months and John was missing.
I hope it'll put a better spin on John's behavior here, which comes across as fairly appalling.

True, but then again, we're seeing that behavior filtered through Sam's perspective.
And woohoo! to maybe getting the story from Dean's point of view.
