Don't apologize; your rant is awesome. One of the commentaries they talked about the lighting, but I don't remember which one now. I was also surprised at how strong Kripke's opinion of the Roadhouse was. I can understand it, I was just surprised.

I, too, would love even a podcast per episode a la BSG, but they have talked SO much about the long hours that everyone puts into the filming that I can understand them not wanting to do even more. Still, it would add so much. There was so much conversation about character development with Jake as a soldier, and Fred Lane as YED, and just all the peripherals that it is a shame we don't have more. All the comments about how much attention is paid to set and props just supports the analysis of the meta that is out there and I'd love to hear more of their comments illustrating they pay attention to the details. I is greedy.

Just listened to/watched the commentary for IMTOD, and, well... I'll blame on the guys just enjoying the ep so much that they forgot to do the commentating. I actually caught myself trying to bang the monitor hoping for the sound of the commentary track to come back.

And maybe I'm not obsessed enough, but I could NOT tell when it was Jensen, and when it was Jared, speaking.

Loves and curses gigabyte for not allowing me a second dl for another hour, and I adore the kind souls who put the commentaries up.

I'll be consoling myself with some Cferg commentary.

Cferg is another example of someone who goes the extra mile with the commentaries. I hate to complain about Supernatural though, because it really does seem like everyone already works so damn hard. And Kripke said in one of his that it makes him cry when we are mean to him online, so Ima try and be nicer. *snerk* I don't know how I'd be nicer. I already forgive them everything that comes along.

IMToD probably has the least information, but it is the J's so I enjoyed it. Most of the time when trying to tell if it's Jared or Jensen, you can safely err on the side of Jared. He is a much better facilitator of conversation and you will hear him break the silence with..."so another thing that was interesting". Or maybe just offering up a tidbit. I did find it absolutely ironic that Jensen was the one who brought up JDM and FL's deep voices when he has such a low voice himself. It was Jared, however, that does the deep impersonation after Jensen mentions it.

Yeah, I can only imagine how hard they all work on both shows, and I don't want to compare them and end up slighting either one.

Cferg seems to be much more vocally opiniated, and much more pro-actively fanboyish about it. Some people's heads work in different ways and the act of articulating what comes into one's head comes more readily to some than it does to others.

I laughed too when Jensen pointed out the deep voices (and his didn't seem as deep in this particular commentary, not like I'm used to, anyhoo).

JA's voice isn't as deep as Dean's.

In my head, anyway. No, seriously, I think he consciously lowers his voice and roughens the edge for Dean, more than in his everyday speech. Which would be why Dean's voice does odd things to my spine. Sam's voice never did, till he started bellowing. Boy got some lungs on him.

Also, ita can confirm, but I think Cferg comes from a standup background, which would mean he's spent a lot of time with an interactive audience, rather than in front of a crew and cameras. Which would inform his commentary, I'd think.

I also saw Mary in the asmanex commercial. She looks so happy there it's almost like an AU fic itself.

I had this conversation with my brother, who adores the show as well. He can't stand Sam, and I told him I love them both, but Dean's voice bothers me. I thought it was forced, he insisted that's how it was, rather defensively.

It's for the best: if there is one more thing about Dean that I find absolutely perfect, then I'm in big trouble.

JDM I could just eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And I want to smack the TWoP recapper for labelling him ShutUp!Daddy. Because, no, don't EVER shut up! The first time I saw him was in Weeds, and I just instantly adored him, and was sad that he was already dead. Although I don't know if I can overcome my GA antipathy to watch for him.

I was so sad to realize, after I started watching, and after I'd been reading the Boxed Set discussions, how very few eps he was in. Because I lurve him so. I know the show has to be about Dean and Sam, but the loss of John after so brief a time threw me, it really did.

--and I hope that Mary isn't gone for good. The fact that her recognition of the YED was only brought up in the last ep or so of season two gives me hope.
