How much traffic is enough traffic?

Ah, the age old question.

Reality is the obvious success; most of the others are in the 2000ish ballpark.

I can't remember, did Procedurals come out of the same temporary experiment? Why didn't Network Drama get it's own permanent thread (vs. Comedy, Cable, and Reality)?

I didn't watch Life on Mars. From what I knew about it, it didn't confuse me to see it in BS. It wouldn't confuse me to see it in procedurals either.

Mostly, I just like clear definitions. I don't think this is the first time someone's been surprised to find out that a given show was being discussed in BS. I don't care so much about whether I agree with the definition of SF (it's probably a given that I won't, 'cause I'm like that) as long as I understand what it is.

it seems to me that both of these issues could be solved with a network drama thread.

Sorry, which issues do you mean? I don't think that adding a drama thread will clarify what's a drama versus what's SF. (If you meant something else, never mind.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Didn't get the votes, as I recall. It was on the ballot.

I hate to stir up some shit, but it seems to me that both of these issues could be solved with a network drama thread. Has it been 6 months?

Well, for CUPID it would have to be a dramedy thread, wouldn't it?

Runs away

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If Cupid and Kings don't belong in Boxed Set, they belong in Natter. Creating a new thread won't help to explain things to Strega.

Or me. I keep going back to the fact that I would never have watched Leverage if it hadn't been discussed so much in Natter.

Can I propose rethinking the TV structure in general (the bucket threads, but also Boxed Set) or do I have to have a specific plan ahead of proposal?

Wait--have you made a proposal yet, then? I didn't understand you to want to rethink Boxed Set, but that was a probably a reflexively narrow reading on my part.

Whatever you propose now is what you propose now. You can add or remove stuff the whole time Lightbulbs is open. But I'll need some sort of text to kick things off with, and that has to be what people second and third, etc.

Rethinking the bucket threads without including Boxed Set makes no sense to me. To me, it's a bucket like any other, but less well defined.

But I'm currently reading the summer 2007 discussions from the voting thread to see if I can come up with a proposal that makes sense.

ETA: It also occurs to me that searching for a particular show discussion in Natter would be a bit easier now that it doesn't top off at 10000 posts.

I thought you were pondering redoing bucket threads without sufficient volume to support their existence.

I've never gotten why science fiction and fantasy is a confusing genre, but that's what the vote is for.

I think it is fantasy that's harder to define. I would never have put Journeyman into Boxed Set for example. It's not a "genre" show to me.

Since the bucket threads don't have parellel definitions, there are other weird overlaps too. Is Flight of the Conchords Comedy or Premium Cable? Is procedurals just for Network TV?

I want to rethink the whole structure, not just close threads (although that may be the result). And I would never propose closing Boxed Set.

Official proposal:
Rethinking the structure and/or continued existence of the following bucket threads: Boxed Set, Cable Drama, Comedy, Procedurals, and Premium Cable.
