Is official magazine press and such counted as spoilers?
Yes and no. We officially unspoilered main credits cast, and I think it would be impossible to keep general knowledge of a show-premise spoily, but details like "Character X and Character Y have smoochies" would be spoily. Relevant text from the FAQ:
Q. What do you guys consider a spoiler?
A. Anything that hasn't been broadcast. So anything from the show and the preview trailers is okay, anything from TV Guide or anywhere else is a spoiler, including casting news, episode titles and plot twists. No white fonting. Spoilers should only be posted in the spoiler thread.
Q. Are all casting news items considered spoilers?
A. Most. When in doubt, treat them as spoilers.
Following is an explanation about the difference between "Hunk Lunkhead has a contract on the show" and "Hunk Lunkhead will be guest starring as Cheesy McBlowhard, the nemesis to Our Hero." I think that the formal spoiler rules are necessarily relaxed a little, for a new show, but the smoochies part is still a spoiler any way you slice it.
Even if we did have a thread for it, spoiler rules would be such that cast and basic premise would be just about all we could talk about in-thread, until like August.
This is what I was wondering, too. It seems way too early for a dedicated thread.
oh hell. SERIOUSLY!!!
just open a thread for every single thing anyone wants, just do it and stop all the talk, it is so tiresome already.
I am against a Dollhouse thread until the show airs, but:

Wait, so here you strongly care about spoiler rules, but for gamers who don't want to be spoiled for comics, or people who want to talk about BSG without getting spoiled for Stargate, need to just get over it?
Sean, I think they're two different issues. Notably, I don't have a strong opinion on the idea of using Other Media for gaming, and the spoiler issues that might cause, because I'm not well-informed enough (not being subscribed to the thread).
And I think you're being dramatic and it feels like you are attempting to score points off me. And I wish you'd quit it.
re: Dollhouse - I think we should not think about it until we have the Fox schedule in hand. We could vote for a Dollhouse thread - have it in place and then discover that it won't even air 'til January.
Sean, I think they're two different issues.
They are. One is about being spoiled for the topic of the thread, and one is about being spoiled for other stuff.
Other Media tends to be whitefonted so I have no problem going in there if I am not up-to-fate on the latest issue (although I do find the white font so tempty, I tend to stay away until I'm caught up).
edit to say: not here. I'm leaving the typo in 'cause it's funny.
And I think you're being dramatic and it feels like you are attempting to score points off me. And I wish you'd quit it.
I was attempting to point out what I see as a massive inconsistency in your position.
Your response is to call me dramatic, and tell me you wish I would quit. That's a gross mischaracterization of my post, and a very dismissive attempt to ignore my question.
