Oh my god. What can it be? We're all doomed! Who's flying this thing!? Oh right, that would be me. Back to work.

I'm "interested" in participating in the social threads, but Natter and Bitches move too quickly for me. So I tend to stay out.

This.

The thing with the social threads, also, is that they're frelling fast.

And this.

If all anybody wants is to be able to create a thread at will to discuss navel lint and see if it attracts other posters, and how long it's active, and to discard it when it sinks like stone,

I know this is intended to be facetious, but this is exactly what I want. I also accept that I'm vastly outnumbered on this issue.

then I'm not being wilfully blind when I can't see what the attraction of *this* board is, other than it's pretty and efficient, loads fast and doesn't go down like a two-dollar hooker everytime the internet hiccups.

The attraction of this board is that it's filled with smart, fun, interesting, and very funny people. I think Buffistas would be fun even discussing navel lint. But I can't keep up in either of the two monolithic fast-moving threads, and I stopped trying years ago. It has nothing to do with not being interested in talking to you people.

Also, many thanks to those who made the poll happen.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I think Buffistas would be fun even discussing navel lint.

I wouldn't be surprised if we've done just that somewhere.

Adding my thanks to the pollsters, and everyone else saying spicy-brained things in this discussion today -- it's that time of year when work isn't cooperating with my desire to make big thinky navelgazing statements, but I've been reading along and nodding. Sometimes nodding at both people on opposite sides of a given question, because y'all are smrt that way.

brillig

How far back is that nifty table that listed the various threads and their rankings in the "experience"? (I always think of Prince when I think of "experience." Your Hendrix may vary.)

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

"not interested in participating in the social threads"

This to me means they want to talk about specific show threads or specific topics (e.g. Movies, Music, Literary, probably Box Set). They don't want to wade through Natter or Bitches for glimpses of same.

Doesn't mean they don't want to talk to people here; I think they just want some more focused threads to do so.

hip deep in pie

because I sort of think Buffy is the heart of this board-- the one thing we all have in common.

I had a similar thought while cleaning out the Kitty Litter last night. While There was Buffy, Angel, and Firefly we argued about thread proliferation, but since we had something that was a clear focus, it sort of the other thing we did on the board, besides talk about the Jossverse. Now the other stuff is what we have to talk about and we don't have a single opinion on what that should be.

Clearly our solution is that Joss or Tim (or both together) need to put on a new series that captures our hearts (and lasts more than 13 episodes.)

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I was wondering if we should think about discussing the Buffy comics, perhaps in whitefont, in a thread that gets more traffic than the comic thread, to try and give discussions some focus. I am not wedded to this idea, but I tend to forget the comic thread is there, even though I am reading Buffy.

Speaking from (not for) the comics thread, please no.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I can't see the logic in creating a separate thread to discuss the thing that the comics thread was originally created to discuss (i.e., Joss-written comics in the BtVS universe). The only reason it morphed into the general comics thread at all was because Fray had such a limited & unpredictable run.

Oh- I wasn't thinking separate thread- I was think more that we could think about bringing it up in Natter as well.
