Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I'd go with either Gong Li or Isabelle Adjani. My cousin did some work in Adjani's apartment and said her face was just flawless, with skin like porcelain.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I think that Faith is the most beautiful in the Whedonverse, so I always think that Eliza Dushku is beautiful. But then I look at her, and I think she had a nose job or something that makes her look more generic. So, I would actually go with Morena as the most beautiful.

Hey. New board.

Amy Acker is the most "my type" Whedonverse girl, with Alyson Hannigan coming in a close second. But it's been pretty clear for a while that my type doesn't necessarily mesh perfectly with society's interpretations of "beautiful" OR "hott."

I'd give Charisma top on the "Sexy" list, Gina top on "Striking," Morena top on "Gorgeous," SMG top on "Fine," and... well, I'm not sure that any of them fit my requirements for a high spot on "beautiful." Not that I'm sure I know what those are, but I'm pretty sure Ziyi Zhang qualifies, Nicole Kidman does sometimes, and Natalie Portman has potential to reach it. Penelope Cruz, too.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I think I'd have to agree with Morena Baccarin. She's unbelievably gorgeous, both onscreen and in person.

hip deep in pie

I think that Morena is the most beautiful, but has never had the presence to make me go "wow."

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Hm. I think I agree with Gris.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I think that Morena is the most beautiful, but has never had the presence to make me go "wow."

In Firefly, oddly, I think the way she was dressed and surrounded with so much lushness kind of camoflagued how much of it was just her. If that makes any sense. I saw here recently in that really bad Treat Williams show on cable and it was striking how she stood out in normal surroundings and among normal people, even for tv-adjusted values of "normal".

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Morena falls under "equisite" in my book.

And what Brenda said about her inherent beauty on Firefly was being disguised by the beauty of her trappings.

*has a unicorn/Mummy Fortuna/Schmendrick moment*

Always Anti-fascist!

What about Stephanie Romanov? At least she has award-winning lips, though I don't really dispute any of the choices here.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I like to think the most beautiful woman in the world has never been photographed. What we are arguing is the most beautiful famous woman. I vote for Shoreh Agdashaloo.
