Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I saw "The Class" last night, which i highly recommend. Beautifully made and the actors playing the students were incredible.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Excellent! I love Cantet's earlier movies, especially Human Resources.

Because books.

I took Sara to Coraline in 3D, and it was wonderful! She's just five, but she was fine -- I was actually more concerned with the 3D aspect freaking her out, but it really just added incredible depth. So gorgeously done. LOVED.

I had no idea 3D movies don't qualify for matinee prices (at least at that theater), which was an unpleasant surprise. Then we walked into the theater and were hit by this awful, acrid smell. I had a headache by the time we left, and I guess someone complained -- we walked out to find two managers waiting with free passes for everyone! (Apparently there was a fire a few days ago in the food court. No clue.) And the tickets are good for adult seats, any show ... *except* a 3D show, which I found sort of ironic. Still, that was a nice surprise.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

We are watching Excalibur. It's...kind of stupid.

Enjoyed Coraline, though, especially all the weird scenic touches.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

The garden set was 50 feet long! Which would be like a stadium set for human actors!

It's...kind of stupid.

David, you misspelled "wonderfully, gloriously stupid." So fantastically cheesy.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

HA.

Okay, it's actually really stupid. Nicol Williamson must have had a hell of a stomachache after he finished chewing all that scenery.

Helen Mirren, almost thirty years ago, still fucking gorgeous.

It's incredibly bad, which is probably why I love it so much.
