A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I have finally listened to the Christian Bale thing, and I have to say that while embarrassing, I certainly have been on the receiving end of similar things for much less of an infraction. It was unprofessional, but not shocking to me. And the DP is like practically second in command, and really shouldn't be walking through shots.

Always Anti-fascist!

There's a Bill O'Reilly "Fuck it, we'll do it live!" one too.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

I love that one. It sounds like Bale and BillO are screaming at each other.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I saw Coraline tonight with TCG, Victor, and Thessally. I liked it and I loved parts of it, but I did not love the movie as a whole the way I wanted to. The 3D was awesome though, so if you can see it in 3D, you should.

Jilli warning, there is a bit at the end where the Other Mother turns into a spider-like thing. It is very brief and not very realistic looking, but I thought you might appreciate a warning.

For those wanting to take your kids, I don't think the movie is anywhere near as scary as the book.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

sj, thank you for the warning, but I remembered that part from the book, so I was prepared.

I LOVED Coraline. It was absolutely gorgeous, and just the right level of creepy. Predictably, I want my very own batwinged terrier.

We saw it in 3D, and ... wow. That was the best use of 3D I've ever seen. We're going to see it again next week in plain ol' 2D, and it will be interesting to see how different an experience it is.

Jilli, I didn't remember it from the book, but I'm glas you were prepared.

Coraline: I hated the additional character of Whybe, and I think I actually screamed outloud when he tried to help her at the end. To me Coraline being alone without friends is an important part of the story. I loved Coraline herself and the parents but was sad that the creepy scene near the end with the father was downplayed. I loved the addition of the garden, and the scenes there were gorgeous. I also loved how they showed the other world dissolving near the end. I was so very disappointed that it wasn't British, and I missed the back story of the ghost children and the creepiness of that scene in the book.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I love that one. It sounds like Bale and BillO are screaming at each other.

I agree. I find all of these fan videos/audio of Bale screaming to be extremely funny. I cannot get enough of them. I think someone needs to do a Al Pacino/Bale one. That would likely have me in fits.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

sj, where did you see it? I'm prepared to drive a ways to ensure a 3D experience....

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

How realistic are the rats in Coraline? I want to see it, but I'm really rat-phobic.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Theo - both Boston Common and Fenway are showing it in 3-D. So is Danvers if you want the 'burbs.

I think I'm taking Friday the 13th off (both of them!), so I'd probably catch it at a matinee then at one of those three places.
