Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Yes! There was actually a brief moment of cognitive dissonance when he sang a little song and it wasn't performed by Jonathan Coulton. (It was performed by TMBG instead, so at least the "geeky Brooklyn-based musician" theme was maintained. But my brain still needed a moment to adjust.)

Punishingly Intricate

Here's how you do it.

That is a good plan!

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Wondermark takes on Westerns. As always, remember the alt-text. (He had some problems posting the comic, so you have to click to see it full-size, and then close it so you can get the alt-text.)

move out and draw fire

I have to say the Wired article on the effects impressed me. Hand-painted popcorn for trees. Dude.

The DH was upset enough about Stardust that I'm not sure he'll willingly see Coraline, as those are his two favorite Gaimans. But maybe just maybe...

Stardust upset me too, because I love the book and the movie was ... not what I wanted. But everything I have seen about Coraline has made me very excited.

information libertarian

So, I was talking to my dentist this AM, and she was telling me about how her 4 year old is obsessed with a recent Bollywood release, and before I could ask her what the movie was, she injected me with novocain and started drilling my teeth.

But, it seems to me that I would enjoy the Bollywood genre, and it could potentially be really fun for kids, too, since there's the whole singing and dancing thing. The problem is, how do I begin? Wikipedia has a list of top-grossing Bollywood films: [link] - can anyone recommend which of these would be good for beginners and also appropriate for children - as well as possibly available at a video store in Athens GA?
