Giles: I'm sure we're all perfectly safe. Dawn: We're safe. Right. And Spike built a robot Buffy to play checkers with. Tara: It sounded convincing when I thought it.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

“Not dead yet!”

Robin can definitely bring the creepy and menacing. It's that same controlled intensity.

William Hurt, Sam Shepard, Scott Glenn.

And for anyone who saw The Good Shepherd, Matt Damon creeped me RIGHT out.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Since Michael K. Williams and Michael Chiklis have been mentioned, let me also toss in Michael Emerson.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

No love for Samuel L. Jackson? I know he's mostly been a likable wisecracker lately, but in some of his early movies he did an angry stare that made me worry he'd be spraying the movie audience with bullets.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Random things on a Friday that will make Jessica happy:

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

But how many people actually made it all the way to the end? I know Sean and I didn't.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Alternate ending for The Apple revealed!

!!!!!

I just came out of a spectacularly pointless meeting and am now hungry, but I shall watch when I return from lunch.

[eta: Aw, I decided to watch right away, but the Youtube clip is just the trailer. Which is still pretty awesome if you haven't seen it.]

But how many people actually made it all the way to the end? I know Sean and I didn't.

Clearly your hearts are weak and devoid of magic. Because the ending is brilliant. Ask Amych to replicate the noise she made when the thing happens.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Ack. Another gap in my filmic knowledge. Are y'all talking about this Apple?

I think this comment says it best:

A friend who was with me when I first saw this, and who had seen it before, noted that I and a couple of fellow first-timers' reaction to the movie was that we "appeared to be in perpetual core dump."
