I hated MD. Thought it was pretentious and self-indulgent, even if it does have some achingly powerful moments.
This is exactly how I felt about it. A lot of it felt like showoffy film school stuff to me.
I saw
Happy Go Lucky
on Saturday night. I loved it! But I can see how it wouldn't appeal to everyone. The couple sitting next to me walked out.
Frank, that is hilarious. One of the things I told my long-suffering work friend was that it was the most overtly homoerotic/homoaffectionate film I had ever seen, narrowly eclipsing Tango & Cash. Which I had made him watch last summer.
I always wonder how conscious the makers/cast of Tango & Cash were about that. Then I remember they put Kurt Russell in a dress.
Of course, the movie is ten times funnier if Stallone wasn't in on the joke...
The Charlton Heston of our generation, eh?
The Charlton Heston of our generation, eh?
Exactly the story I was thinking of.
Rewatched
Stay
last night, and damn, that is just a pretty movie with a great ambience and the editing is just divine. Love all the morphing scenes and the flips that happen so fast that you're not sure what you just saw. Maybe something changed, but what?!
I also was dragged to see
Passengers
over the weekend, and was so not expecting it to be a romantic drama. Blech. Don't see it expecting a supernatural thriller. In fact, just don't see it. the only plus was the awesomely awesome trailer for
Australia.
Plot, what plot? Hugh Jackman is HOT! And sweaty, and barechested, and speaking with his native accent. Yum? YUM!
I also found it amusing that my brother was more excited over Wolvie than Nicole Kidman.
Huh.
Crowd Forces Cancellation of "Twilight" Movie Event in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A planned meet-and-greet for the star of teenaged vampire movie is cancelled after hundreds of fans stormed the entrance to the Stonestown Galleria Mall.
People started crowding the front of the mall at about 5:00 a.m. Monday for the chance to buy a t-shirt and get a wristband to meet Robert Pattinson who plays the character of Edward in the "Twilight" movie. That film, based on at least five popular books, is due to open in theaters later this month.
Organizers reportedly cancelled the event because of the crush of fans. Witnesses tell KRON 4's Yoli Aceves the large crowd overwhelmed a list organizers had set up to register fans to meet the actor.
It's unclear if the event will be rescheduled.
In other news, I watched Blue Crush and Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay this weekend. Both of my crushes on Hawai'i and Kal Penn continue to be epic. Clearly, Harold and Kumar need to learn how to surf in Oahu in the next movie.
They must be counting
Midnight Sun.
I like how it's "at least" five. THAT WE KNOW ABOUT. Dun dun DUN!
Weirdly, the headline made me think the event was canceled by marauding protesters.
"Hell NO, we won't go. Vamps are not supposed to glow."
