I saw three whole movies this week. Two were, to me, missable. But they were at a drive in (perfect for kids. You set up lawn chairs and when they had enough, they go sleep in the car.) Simpsons and that stupid, offensive Adam Sandler one
And then we watched Hot Fuzz last night. Now, usually? Anything gory played for chuckles turns me right off. I don't do horror, I don't do slasher. But this didn't. I really liked it and the subtle way it ramped up.
sarameg: if you haven't seen
Shaun of the Dead
you really oughtta. My sister hates horror movies and even she thought it was funny.
Finally got to see The Great Race after it was on the TiVo for several weeks.
Must-see stuff if you like slapstick comedy. Jack Lemmon was clearly having a grand old time as both the villain and the prince. Tony Curtis was clearly having an equally grand time as the hero. Ditto Natalie Wood as the suffragette girl.
Shake well and bake into a 2.5 hour slapstick comedy set around a New York to Paris auto race during the early 1900s.
To say any more would be spoiling unfairly.
I saw the trailer for Good Luck Chuck. I guess Dane Williams is looking to be Romantic Comedy Guy. Don't know but I'm going to pay $9 to see Jessica Alba walk into a iron post.

What, no love for Peter Falk?
Push the button Max!
Yes, Falk. The Brooklyn accent you could cut with a knife....
Falk didn't come across as enjoying himself quite as much. Probably because he was trying to become as big a star as the other three.
Hot Fuzz
may cross the line from clever to brilliant. I'm sure I missed a number of the references, but I did love it. Plus, hedgehog!
It was probably a mistake for me to see Stardust in the same day I read the book. I really didn't like it. I really wanted to like it, but too much was changed for my taste.
We watched Hot Fuzz and The Host this past weekend, and both were made of awesome!
