Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Touch of Evil or just about any decent Hitchcock movie (except maybe Vertigo or Marnie - too much attention needs to be paid). Also, Suspiria (or any good Argento, really) and I totally second Jess' recommend of Ravenous.

“Not dead yet!”

Ohhhhh, Crossing Delancey is just one of the best movies ever.

"Take my arm, Sam, I won't break. One hundred and twenty pounds of pure gold-- that's me. Come children. Let's put the Bubbe to bed."

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

And because Barb reminded me of Peter Riegert, probably my favorite makes-me-happy movie of all time, Local Hero.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane is playing on TCM.

Looks like Jody is wearing a wig there. It's hard to believe she did this, Taxi Driver and Freaky Friday in the same year.

I didn't know Alexis Smith was in this! One of the prettiest actresses of the '40s, and still striking here.

Also, didn't know she was married to Craig Stevens (Peter Gunn) her whole life.

Martin Sheen is supercreepy and superfreaky in this.

Me too. I had to have a moratorium on watching it for several years. I was watching it too much.

Gordon and Stella have one of the best marriages in movies.

And Gordon is Wedge Antilles!

Or C-3PO. I forget which.
