Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm in that club.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Kate, Bourne says "I remember everything" to the Albert Finney character in their face-off at the end. And ITA with you about his resemblance to Brian Cox being very confusing, especially in that photo with the Madrid station chief. It would have thrown me off for longer than the few seconds it did if I didn't remember I'd heard about Finney being in the film.

I too was almost shouting at the screen "Put a damn head scarf on!" to the Stiles character--that really annoyed me as something that a CIA agent, even one who's office personnel and not in the field, should have known if I, a simple film watcher, know to do it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And ESPECIALLY when there were moments when she wasn't just run run running. I can see running in panic without thinking, but when you have a moment to catch your breath?

Now tagless for your comfort.

Mmm...SMG is doing the voice of April O'Neil in TMNT. She's redeemed herself by a fraction for doing the godawful Happily N'Ever After.

How much do I miss Mako?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Just got back from Stardust. I thought it was lovely. Loved De Niro, far more than Pfeiffer, though she did a good job in the part. The whole thing made me happy, and I'd have stayed through the credits to confirm my recognition of the narrator , but bloody Jesus was the song awful. I mean, seriously. No, really, I mean, the only even remotely good bit was about "riding a star" which, in context is just porny as Hell, which is the only thing that made it entertaining.

The guy who plays Tristan, well, I hope this does good things for his career, as he was nice to watch.

Dog is my co-pilot.

I have been David Strathairn's bitch since he was Moss on The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd!

The first time he caught my eye was in The Return of the Secaucus Seven. Loved that film!

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Just got back from seeing Stardust again. Both K-Bug and I retain our love for the flick. I have no idea how I missed the costuming on the brothers when I saw it the first time - it jumped out and slapped me this time.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Are there any theatres that do special shows where mothers can come with the baby? And everyone is in the same boat? Or would that just not be enjoyable?

Sumi- I'm not sure where you're at but there are a lot of these in California. At Pacific Theatres they're called Monday Morning Mommy Movies and they are every Monday at 11:00 am. They keep the house lights up just a touch so you can see if you need to change a diaper or something and they turn the volume down just a hair so if your baby is sleeping she'll stay that way. The mommies I've talked to just love it.
