Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

And I too was extremely distubed by the violence of Pan's Labyrinth, mostly because I went into it without realizing that a good part of the movie is not fantasy, but is in fact very much in the real world.

This is why I told S she's not allowed to see it, as much I think she'd like the movie otherwise. She knows why I don't think she should see it, and she agrees.

move out and draw fire

he little girl (8?) sitting next to me tearfully asked her mother if the movie was over.

Oh man.

I have to admit that I've never made it through any of Happy Feet. I tried on the airplane, but the start was too boring. Someone gave Mallory the DVD because he laughed like a drain at the trailer, and he's watched it a couple times. I tried to watch it with him, but quickly got bored.

Basically, the musical pastiche was so unworkable, and the visuals so monotonous, that I wasn't even pulled in enough to be offended.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Hope this doesn't screw with shooting HBP much.

Awesome. Now I know what to get the little guy for Christmas.

I pimp Avatar to everyone who will stand still long enough to listen, and especially people who have or are buying for kids. I can't wait for the next season to start.

Basically, the musical pastiche was so unworkable, and the visuals so monotonous, that I wasn't even pulled in enough to be offended.

I was so terribly bored that being offended gave me something to do.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Avatar is wonderful. I don't know if 2-3 y.o. would get it, though.

Start with Pee Wee's Playhouse and work your way up.

Always Anti-fascist!

David Strathairn Funny, cause in "Good Night and Good Luck", I went from "Hey, it's That Guy!" to "Is it me, or is he sexy now?" Which was new to me, as I didn't socialize much in college. But I'm glad I'm not alone in that. Even if I still can't remember his name and might shout out "Oh, look, it's Murrow." I hope he'd think it's a compliment. Or better than That Guy, at least.

I can't wait for the next season to start.

September 21 FTW.

In certain quarters this used to mean: Fuck The World.

Or as I hear it in my head: Fuck the What?

Of course it means: For The Win

...but the associations are slippery.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I always have a moment of

Fuck the What?

... and yet I love it anyway.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Avatar is totally cool, but you should go with My Neighbor Totoro for that age. My niece is completely smitten with it, much to my delight. I got it for her for Christmas. Her birthday is coming up in Sept. (3 years old already!) and I've bought her a big ass stuffed Totoro. She is going to freak out.
