Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

So, I saw WALL-E yesterday. Not sure what I think. I was somewhat distracted by A (5), who had a hard time following what was going on, and so got a bit frustrated. There were definitely things I loved, but it was very uneven.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

New Bond trailer!! (It might disappear rather quickly--the YouTube has already been yanked.)

So freakin' cool.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

New Bond trailer!!

Eeenteresting. Impressions based on no knowledge other than the trailer:

1. Leave out the speedboats and shit, and it could be lifted straight from le Carre.

2. Except, nobody in le Carre looks like that shirtless, I'm fairly certain.

3. WTF is up with that rassenfrassen title?

It's the name of an Ian Fleming short story.

But it's still stupid.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I did not know that.

Yes, incredibly stupid. Stupid enough that I'll have to ogle the shirtless again to scrub my brain of it.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

amych, the name comes from a short story that was in the book "For Your Eyes Only."

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

It's dumb, but there was enough shirtlessness to make up for it.

Besides, possibly slashy chemistry again with what's his face, AND backlicking? I am SO THERE.

And Mmm. Cranky M.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Oh, just to be clear, I am SO THERE as well. Possibly with actual bells on. Especially if such a thing would somehow guarantee me more shirtlessness.

Also, I suspect that the above whitefont spoilerfont is probably in DC's standard contract, and thus not so much a spoiler as a major selling point. But it amuses me.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Oooh. Looks a bit like Licence to Kill, no?
