Wesley: Feng Shui. Gunn: Right. What's that mean again? Wesley: That people will believe anything. Actually, in this place, Feng Shui will probably have enormous significance. I'll align my furniture the wrong way and suddenly catch fire or turn into a pudding.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Question of the evening: can Hulk be as bad as they say, or even worse?

Answer: yes.

(But possibly worth it for the chance to laugh at the kids behind us - i heard the next one is gonna be green arrow - he's one of the avengers too.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

can Hulk be as bad as they say, or even worse?

Wait--compared to his previous incarnation?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

We just got done watching Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem.

Wow, that was ... something. Something not good. And very very dumb. However, face huggers still freak me right out, no matter how dumb the movie they're being used in.

Pete is still angrily muttering about the crimes that have been inflicted upon the Aliens franchise. He would really like to see a good Aliens movie made again.

(We knew going in that AvP:R was a bad, bad movie. We had just hoped for some good fight sequences with the assorted monsters, but noooo. Fight choreography was crap.)

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

It's so sad because there's a really decent comic book version I wish they would make into a movie.

They've used bits from the AvP comics in the first AvP movie. Not that this kept it from sucking.

Darn it! James McAvoy says he's NOT playing Bilbo.

I hope it's just rumors about Marvel going with a different director for Iron Man II and The Avengers.

I'm watching Chicago. Man I forgot what a fantastic movie this is. I wonder if the original Broadway cast had any idea what a work of genius they would one day not be remembered for.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Late chime in for the male-cows-with-udders revulsion here -- I cracked up my video class by ranting about whether they were tranny cows, or male-identified cows or hideously deformed oxen.

It also bugs me when ant and bee characters are portrayed as male by default.

Or Quasimodo as singing and dancing. He's a deaf hunchback! That's kind of the point of the story, you know?

Feh.

Oh don't get me started on the way Disney interprets classic tales.
