Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

It has nothing to do with porn or rickrolling. But you gotta watch out for that Cusack guy. Progressive and cu-u-u-ute.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'll stand by my "Mission to Mars is brilliant satire" stance, but since I haven't seen it since it was in theatres I can't do much to defend it except cross my arms and pout defiantly.

Sars had such a different reaction to Cusack's Proust questionnaire.

it's a tour de force of autodidact affectation, all the more remarkable because it contains a reverent reference to shamans, something you don't often hear from a man old enough to rent a car.

Always Anti-fascist!

(swooning from the Cusack love.) Yeah, there are lots of others. But I love me some Cusack. Although I probably should love him a little less since I was reading about him when I got the computer virus. But I probably won't stay mad at him. my fault, processing words as a career.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

it contains a reverent reference to shamans, something you don't often hear from a man old enough to rent a car.

I'm confused. At 25, you stop looking up to shamans?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

it's a tour de force of autodidact affectation

How else could one respond to a frickin' Proust Quesionnaire with a frickin' laser on its head?

It is, by its nature, affected. It's not the Lunchpail Schmoe Questionnaire now is it?

And I certainly can't ping him for being an autodidact. Would a grad school tour de force be as interesting, or just a hopeless spew of academic jargon?

Should it not be a tour de force, but rather lameass?

I mean, is he affected because he reads and that is reflected in his response?

Always Anti-fascist!

Hey, some of my best friends are autodidacts. (And my mom.) Although as far as I know, she missed Proust, as have I, fwiw.

Unless you're unable to do so, it might be simpler to read the piece. She gets to Cusack in the last 4 paragraphs, and then there are a few clarifications in the comments.

I think Cusack's super cute, but his prettiness does not offset his legendary douchebaggery.

At 25, you stop looking up to shamans?

You stop saying things like music "seems the closest art to prayer and where the shamans roam." Along with the white buffalo, I guess.

Bwah! And, yeah, I think I'll stick to the 30-second ragging on McCain version.

move out and draw fire

"seems the closest art to prayer and where the shamans roam."

But...he's right.

Of course, it's possible that I'm affected (affectating? an affectationy person?).
