Very convincing. Makes me completely want to put myself under government control. Please take me to where you can make me unconscious and naked.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I haven't seen the film, but I assume the aliens in question arrived on the B Ark en route from Golgafrincham. It's the only logical explanation.

Really have to get around to seeing Judge Dredd.

And, if I *really* put forth the effort to enjoy Demolition Man because of the stupid, I can kind of get into it.

I don't dislike it, but Demolition Man kind of falls into the Stupid, Don't Quite Like It category for me.

Sometimes I like it. But it takes work, for me.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

M. Knight has shown a tendency to cast actors I can't stand as his leads, in addition to the woeful stupidity of his last 3 plots, airing his hurt feelings about critics in his movies, and featuring himself as speechy and possibly messianic figures. Unless one of his future efforts relies on Ben Browder exercising naked as a plot point I don't foresee ever spending money on another ticket.

the B Ark en route from Golgafrincham.

That's GOT to be it.

Next, you're going to be claiming that Michigan explains Waterworld.

NOTHING explains Waterworld. I have no defense for my love of that one. It's a Zen thing or something. I just do.

AND IT'S SO STUPID!

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Unless MM likes Waterworld too.

...no. No, I do not.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Unless one of his future efforts relies on Ben Browder exercising naked as a plot point

It doesn't even need to be a plot point for me; it can be totally gratuitous, as far as I'm concerned.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I loved the imagery and the composition of Signs and the characters and their relationships and I always get happy chills when they're on the car and they all connect and the signal comes clear.

My very devout friend hated the movie for what it said about God, but suprisingly, what she hated even more was that they didn't use machine guns or rocket launchers to kill the aliens ded. Which tickles me to no end cuz she hates action movies and violence for entertainment. And I think this is what peeved many people as well. I have heard many a "WTF?! A baseball bat?!" .

And I loved that simplicity and counterintuitiveness.
