Speaking of puppies:
I'm visiting my brother and we're talking tv with his girlfriend, missing Buffy and Firely (while watching Buffy) and Heroes, etc, and she's all sad about the absence of The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which leads Bro to fanboy about Christian Bale being signed on to a trilogy as John Connor.
GF stops and asks who is this Christain Bale.
Um, Batman Begins? Nope. American Psycho? Nope. Newsies? Nope. Empire of the Sun? Nope. And then I get the brilliant thought that she knows of Equilibrium (did I just break a secret code of cool for saying it's name out loud?!) and me and my brother start ragging on how awful and ridiculous it was and how much we absolutely loved it, and she's still all Nope and not interested in our squee. My next brilliant thought is that she's a dog lover, so I tell her he rescues a puppy. She jumped right on board!
I really enjoyed Indy, lots of laughs and squeals. And yet --maybe it was because I was in the fifth row from the screen-- even as I was laughing I felt a little dirty.
When I watch Indy, I want to feel like I'm watching Indy, not
Tarzan/George of the Jungle/The Mummy/Stargate.
::insert standard CGI-abuse rant::

In preparation for finally getting MOTHER OF TEARS, I stayed up too late tonight and re-watched SUSPIRIA (along with the ancillary documentary disc). DAMN, I love this movie beyond all reason. Granted, it was a seriously formative moviegoing experience for me since I saw it when I was 13 in the theater, and it pretty much jaded me for life on violent horror movies, but it also primed for loving totally style-driven movies as well. Just fucking amazing how designed this sucker was to the nth degree. The rewatch also rekindled my absolute love of Jessica Harper and I'm sorry that she seems to have disappeared from the acting biz.
Juliebird, I can understand the dirtiness. I didn't mind it as much, but yeah. It was a lot of fun, though.
Oh no! The actor who plays Marcus Belby in the HP films was knifed to death.
I saw the headline "Teen Actor from Harry Potter Killed" on Yahoo yesterday, and I swear my heart stopped.
Poor kid.
Ugh, and he was just trying to help out.
Ants!
Why did it have to be
ants
? Why didn't anybody warn me? I had to plug my ears but I could still hear it. ::shudder:: I'm going to have to find a crystal skull to sleep with tonight.
Laga, and today, on my hike through the state park adjacent to my parents place, a trail took us through 1-2 foot high
ant hills,
and for maybe a hundred feet up and down the trail
they covered it.
Bad day to wear my tevas.
eggs benedict.
Back to
The Fall,
IMDB lists it as 2006, fandango had a "Buy Now" link, and there are limited showings near me and some more in Manhattan. Is it just coming out, or is it fading away? Because maybe I'll have to head into the city this week to see it (oh the joy of working in a town with a direct line to Penn!)
