A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

That's as silly as the notion that they called it "The Madness of King George" so nobody would skip "George III" on account of missing "George" and "George II".

Sophia Coppola sucked in "George II".

Didn't SMG just star in a movie with the same basic plot conceit as Possession? Also from Ghost House Films, if I'm not mistaken?

Oh I get it, same plot, different title. I must have missed the first flick.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Oh, I thought it was another adaptation of the A.S. Byatt novel.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

O RLY? That should be news to the Sondheim fans who've been tracking what's been cut. Such as "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd," the opening/closing number.

Um, yeah. It's still a musical w/ very little spoken dialogue, but it's far from the entire stage show.

(In order to make it less stagey, they cut the chorus out entirely, so there's an instrumental overture & some nice gory animated opening credits where "Ballad of Sweeney Todd" would normally go. It gets the same point across, but sans words.)

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

This is just so weird to me because, for fuck's sake, it's SWEENEY TODD. It's so odd to think about someone not knowing it's a musical.

Also, have those people look at any trailer for any foreign film.

They are all "bait and switch" since most of them show no dialogue at all and the stirring music generally implies they are all Sturm und Drang action films.
