Although the action part did have one of the coolest revenge killings evah!
I ALWAYS loved that bit, especially since it's the Dane from Miller's Crossing that he takes his revenge on. Honestly (apart from the science being SERIOUSLY crap) it was when it started being an ALIEN movie (especially the very end - how many ways can you suck an alien out into space? Let's find out...) that it stopped working for me.
The ALIEN series lost me at the beginning of Alien3, when they killed off Hicks and Newt. Sorry, but you kill off two of my favorite characters ever, I'm not going to be a fan of your movies.

Yeah, at the beginning of Alien3, they rendered everything that happened in Aliens moot, and they did it all offscreen. Way to show respect to the fans, guys.
It is pretty amazing, though, that good or bad, the ALIENS movies definitely reflect the directors who made them (and I'd say AR mixed some definite Joss in - it's just I think Joss and Jeunet were oil and water).
And then whos idea was it to make Alien vs. Predator PG? eta: PG-13, right?

Oh, I'd completely blocked that out. Not that I saw it (which may be why I blocked it out). I think the bottom line was the director of that movie anyway.
