Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
#2: NEWSIES. Oh, you knew this was coming. The wonderful irony of Disney making a children’s fable about the power of workers’ unions was lost on me when I first saw it (it was not lost on the L.A Weekly). The politics of this film are clear, intelligent and uplifting. And the songs are catchy. And Batman’s in it. (And hearing my children walking around the house singing “No one can make us give our rights away” makes all of this a lot easier.) Is it dorky? YOU’RE dorky! Dork.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! I love that Josh guy.
No, he is only 6 years younger than she is.
Maybe she'll just be in flashbacks.
Witchblade mini-reunion in a movied called The Dreamless with Eric Etebari, Anthony Cistaro and David Chokachi.
Winona Ryder cast as Spock's mom.
That is just wrong.
Oh, dear.
(Today's bit of random Trek trivia -- Kirk's mother was named Winona.)
Winona Ryder cast as Spock's mom.
Maybe Keanu Reeves can play Spock's dad.
"Whoa. That is not logical."
Speaking of whoa, Ryder apparently isn't playing Spock's mother, Amanda.
She’ll play the young Vulcan mother of Zachary Quinto’s Spock in the movie
Now, not to get too Trek-geeky, but Trek canon (and please correct us if we’re wrong) states very plainly that Spock’s mother is Amanda Grayson, a human being from our very own planet Earth. So, we’re very intrigued to see how Abrams and his writers, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, are going to explain away the presence of a Vulcan mother – step-mum, perhaps? Foster parent? Does Spock not know at this point who his real mother is? Or are they pulling something a bit more grandiose and revisionist?
Maybe she's Spock's wet nurse....
Egg McMuffin: Actually, I think Winona would look pretty hot as a Vulcan....
