Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Always Anti-fascist!

Oh, that's where I know her name from! Cool.(the names in credits just sort of sink in and taunt me and make me like "Do I know her from the internets?") That is a great story, Robin.

hip deep in pie

Wow, The Golden Age has a score of 25% on Rotten Tomatoes. Damn, this is another bad movie that Clive Owen is going to force me to see. Why does he look so pretty in the trailers?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Robin, I heard about your friend's movie on NPR this morning, and thought it sounded just fascinating and (indeed) different -- I didn't connect that it was the same one because I never got back to clicking the link you posted yesterday, so thanks for the repost!

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

That's so funny -- I just picked up a Admit two ticket for a screening of that movie!

move out and draw fire

That Star Trek casting news makes me so happy I might go and see the movie.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I'm trying to imagine just how big the slash reaction is going to be to this new Trek. I'm mildly giddy over it.

Always Anti-fascist!

I've just seen my favorite movie of '07..."The Lookout". Have any Buffistas seen it?

This is me, with a side of "I wonder if the boys are going to wear as much eyeliner as in TOS".

No, not yet, erika. But I want to see it, 'cuz Joseph Gordon Levitt.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I'd never even heard of it before, erika, but I just checked imdb and almost all the user comments (aside from the puzzlers like the person who notes that this completely unknown Levitt newcomer may get a career boost from his fine performance here, and the idiots who complain that scenes exploring his character and how he copes with trauma don't contain any action sequences or advance the plots) are raving about the excellent screenplay and stellar cast. That, plus your love, is definitely enough to move it onto my want list.
