Different groups of MST folk do different ones, and several are just Mike (including ROAD HOUSE - if ever there should have been a group commentary...).
Let's have a Patrick Swayze Christmas this year....
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

More on Warner Bros.' decision to downgrade women's roles in their films. ION, I love Nikki Finke, and I'm not going to see any more WB films for a while, I guess.
A quote:
Sources inside Warner's tell me that, 1) Robinov doesn't believe there's an actress who can carry a movie worldwide since Julia Roberts, 2) Robinov has now gone so far as admitting to his studio colleagues that the decree I reported was made when he was "in the room", 2) Robinov is acknowledging that the studio is reassessing the strategy of making action pictures starring women, 3) Robinov was inundated with calls on Monday and Tuesday from media and Hollywood types asking him about my posting, 4) Robinov has three pics currently in production and six in pre-production and not one stars a women as the main lead of the film, and 5) he's nixed Wonder Woman as a stand-alone film, downgrading her to just one of four superhero characters in the proposed Justice League, and, 6) Robinov will only make Wonder Woman as a spin-off of Justice League, about four superheroes including Wonder Woman. But his proviso is that JL would have to do really, really boffo to justify having a female star-driven pic.
Surf's Up kicks Happy Feet's ass.
Watching paint dry kicks Happy Feet's ass
EtA: Sorry, I have an irrational hate for Happy Feet. I really don't like it at all and I'm still pissed that it won an Oscar
I just read an interesting essay by the Flick Filosopher on atheism in films.
It seems that if a woman's film fails, she gets a disproportionate amount of blame for it.

Holy crap! Though DC is bad about cinching deals for their movies Wonder Woman has been in the works long before the JLA movie. That said so many people have been attached to it (Joss included) and it's gone nowhere. Again it's probably because DC hasn't shown much direction, noone has stepped forth an taken charge and picked a direction. If they had an Avi Arad (who did that for Marvel) it might be different
Scotty has been cast. Still no word on Kirk.
