Whitney? the "plus-size" model?

Yes! There have been my life as a Covergirl ads showing her riding around town in a double-decker bus w/ her mom and sister and baking cupcakes or something?

No, she models plus size clothing. They were giving her shit throughout the competition for losing weight because there is NO market for the in-between models (the size 10-12s basically). It's all crazy. of course.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I put "plus-size" in quotes because, seemingly, she put on weight to be on the show as a "plus-size" and then, when she won, Tyra was calling her curvy or something. (And sizes are crazy - I saw one catalog that was classifying XL as a 12.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

"Plus-size" models officially start at size 16, IIRC. So if you're size 4-14 aka THE SIZE OF MOST WOMEN, you can't haz modeling career.

information libertarian

This web site says most plus-size models are sizes 10-16: [link]

Of course, given the way sizes vary, is that a J. Crew 10 or a Lands End 10 or a Chanel 10, or who knows what?

Huh - my sister (who ranges from 10-14 depending on brand) has always been told by agents that she's too big to be a "regular" model and too small to count as plus-size.

And that's what they were telling Whitney last cycle.
