Gavin, ask yourself this question. What are you more afraid of, a giant murderous demon or me?

Katee and Joshua – What the hell, show? Pairing her up with him is not going to make me like her any more. I still think her friend should've made it instead of her. Let’s just hope she can bring it more than what they’ve shown us thus far. He is such a cutie. I’m telling you, the Comfort and Joshua Show would be awesome. Well, I have to give it up to them. Both of them. They turned it out. Joshua was phenomenal. But he was always gonna turn it out. Katee was amazing, though. They danced together. They told the tired little story (which I did not care for) and it was just synchronized. It flowed. They were on point.

Will is fantastic!

Why is it I'm liking the boys better this year than the girls?

Jessica and Will – Oh, that remedial speller was her? So sad. She’s got a good attitude about it, though. Will better bring it. I’m losing Miss Debbie Allen because of him. He’s really pretty, y'all. I had not noticed. Hmmm. Ok, now I’m intrigued. Oh darlings, don’t pageant smile through a tango. Otherwise, it was lovely. That battement Will did at the front of the stage? Gorgeous. Agreed that she was not 100% clean, but that was tough, tough choreography. I enjoyed them quite a bit. Could’ve done without the cheesy call me bit at the end though. They need to tone it down a skosh. And I still think Katee and Joshua were better. Unbelievable as that is.

And now we have to end with Doriana. Great.

And finally before the Top Chef finale takes over. (And BTW ERic Ripert is the hotness!)

Courtney and Gev – I really like both of these two. I hope they’re good. She is just as cute as a button. And he’s adorable. It was cute. I don’t know if it was a great show closer, but it was fun. Gev has a little bit of the hunchback thing going on. Eh, it was OK, but not more than that. I just don’t think I’ll remember it tomorrow. Mary used to be much truer to the demands of the dance. Once again, Dan is the voice of reason. They’re definitely in my bottom three.

B3 is really hard. Most of them were very good. Aside from Katee and Joshua, didn’t think any of them were really great, but then again none of them were really terrible. I guess I’d put Jamie and Rayven in B3 because I’ve already forgotten what they danced. I’d have to put Gev and Courtney there, although if they’d gone more middle of the show, they might’ve slid by. Third . . . gosh, probably should be Chris and Comfort. There Jive was all over the place. But I think Comfort’s personality will pull them through. My guess is it’ll be Susie and Marquis. Early in the show dancing not the most exciting style. Neither of them got much air time pre-top 20 and they flubbed the final lift. It could also be Matt and Kourtni because they didn’t live up to a great Mandy Moore routine.

By far the best of the night for me were Joshua and Katee. Chelsie #2 and Marc and Will and Jessica I also really enjoyed. And in spite of myself, I really enjoyed Twitch and Kherington. I’m sure I’ll go back to hating her very soon.

Overall, it was a solid night.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

For the opening night of the competition, I think they all gave pretty solid performances. None of them have had more than a week to get used to their partners. Many of them are having to learn totally new ways of moving. I do think Josh and Katee did very well, I liked Will and Jessica quite a bit, Twitch and Kherinton were fun. I think the couple that stood out the most for me was Chelsea and Thane. Chelsea has got the most incredible legs and Thane is hot like a hot thing. I'ma keep my eye on them.

Thane is hot like a hot thing.

Amen! That hip action was out of control. But although she's smokin', I didn't really think she was all that great in the cha cha. Her pose-y, pose-y, develope, point your toe moves were great, but she was not grounded or down into the floor during the actual steps of the dance. Way too pulled up. And I thought he had much better hip action than she did. It's just that she's a total sex bomb (as Dan and his eyeball popping will testify), so you didn't really notice.
