Sorry to spoil the Lady Rapper Show, le nubian!
Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I don't mind spoilers - especially in this case since I can't remember which rapper you are referring to. :-)
Interesting info about Top Chef:
including the fact that Padma gains 12-15 in 20 days judging for the show and she agreed to host to promote her own cookbook and wants to have her own show in the future...
I watched HK ... at this point, I think they're keeping Jen around to have someone everyone (on the show and in the audience) hates. Adds to the drama, interpersonal conflict, etc. I'm wondering if Petrozza might turn out to be the winner by simply flying under the radar - no one hates him, he's pretty consistent, and Ramsey's main problem with him is that he's messy.
Sail, babe, I know. At the risk of getting hassled like Michelle Obama, that was one of the few times I enjoyed the SSB. On an unrelated note, 30 Days repeats, right?
The Trib is having a livechat with Stephanie (from Top Chef) tomorrow at 1 pm Central.
SYTYCD: So far, I'm hating the costume department.
And the camera work.
SYTYCD - Cat is dressed like a disco ball. My show really is back!
No one's really knocking me out so far.
Rayven and Jamie – Well, on the plus side, they seem like a well matched couple and if they get through this week, I think they could gel. As for the dancing, first off, no more choreographed pantsing of dancers. Ewww. WTF, new hip-hop married choreo duo? I thought Jamie was actually much better in this than Rayven. There were moments where he really was in a nice groove. Rayven, well, she didn’t embarrass herself, but she definitely did her best white girl dance team hip hop. Agreed with Nigel that it will be totally forgettable by the end of the night. Also agreed with Dan that they just didn’t get there.
Susie and Marquis – Y’all it’s gonna be very hard for me not to compare this year’s boys to Danny. I remember Danny and Anya’s waltzes and he was magnificent, so this fell incredibly flat for me. I actually tought it started out very well. There were some beautiful lines in there and Susie had a lovely turn sequence and a very nice back arabesque. The actual partnering was rough, though. They were hipping and hopping all over the place. And the last lift was ridiculous. Nigel, even a blind man would’ve noticed.
Kourtni and Matt – Mandy Moore! Tainted Love! Whoo! I frikkin’ love Mandy Moore. Amazing choreography. Matt is a beautiful dancer, but he’s got to lose the weird faces. Kourtni was just kinda there. I mean, she was all right. That was actually a really difficult routine and they did it fairly well. But somehow, I was bored. Agreed with Dan again, the performance quality was lacking. It really should’ve been more impactful. Hmm, I think I actually don’t like either of these two.
Next up Chelsie and Thayne. Chelsie is angled bob girl. I’ve been wanting to see more of her. And I have been loving me some Thayne, so I’m hoping for something good.
Tony and Melanie. Yay! Why does Melanie only get to be Melanie and not her full name? I don’t like it.
Chelsie and Thayne – Wow. That was the first really fun performance I’ve seen tonight. Her body is INSANE. I thought Thayne was amazing, actually a lot better than her. His hip action was awesome. And he partnered her and framed her really, really well. I think she got much stronger as the routine went along. Overall, they did an awesome job. Both of them were a little bit too stiff legged, but overall really, really good.
And dammit, they put Kherington with Twitch. Why do you hate me, SYTYCD?
I only wished that Thayne had focused his vision on her and not so much to the audience. There were times when it seemed like he wasn't even interested in her, though he was there when it counted.
