Such an awesome number! Although still slightly disturbing to think they are cousins.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Looking at some of the Season 1 stuff (not much of which seems to be on YouTube), I got very nostalgic for both the picking of the partners they used to do, and all the time they used to spend actually showing you the choreography sessions.
And even though the talent pool has really expanded, the top people from season 1 (Melody, Nick, Ashle, Blake) really had some good technique. They could even make a Tyce routine seem sexy: [link]
Some of my SYTYCD favorites:
S2 Top 6 Dance (to Imogen Heap) – Travis/Benji/Ivan/Donyelle/Natalie/Allison It is breathtaking
Lion King group dance from S3
Mia’s group dance with the Danny solo from S3
Any of Danny’s solos (also Allison’s farewell solo from S2 is heartbreaking)
Benji/Donyelle’s Too Much Booty and their Cha Cha (smoking!)
Travis and Heidi’s bench dance
Lacey/Kam’s top 20
Allison/Ivan’s Why (choreographed by Tyce!)
Wade’s S3 top 6 dance (the swamp creatures)
There’s a great S2 hip hop group number to Poison (I think?). Old school track suits. Very fun.
I’ll co-sign on Sexyback and Ramalama. Also liked Kam/Lacey’s disco from last year. Lacey was phenomenal in that
Danny and Anya’s foxtrot to It Had to Be You was amazing
One of my favorite dances ever is actually S1 Ashle/Melody to Message in a Bottle (Mia’s piece) Great dance.
Allison/Ivan’s Why (choreographed by Tyce!)
Huh, I didn't realize that. Sigh. I loved Allison and Ivan.
Benji/Donyelle’s Too Much Booty
Very fun if you're still looking for hip hop.
I also still have a soft spot for Dmitry and Ashlee's puppeteer number (to Fall Out Boy's "Dance Dance").
And the Triplettes de Belleville number--who was that?
As far as last night's Top 20 show, I loved loved it oodles and oodles. Loved the Texas pageant queen having a psychotic break in front of millions on national tv. Loved Debbie Allen smacking down the back talking tapper and dismissing her with a wave of the hand and an "I'm through." Loved Nigel holding up the "Hush Y'all" paddle. (Where can I get one?)
I did not love Brandon not going through in favor of that pasty, no personality fool. Also was sad when Evan, the Gene Kelley throwback, was cut. Was not wild about the choreographer's daughter not going through because of the bullshit no personality excuse when they put Kherington "I'm fake and not all that talented" Payne and Katee "Crybaby McWhinerson and my friend is a better dancer than me anyway" through to the Top 20.
But I loved, loved Joshua and Comfort. I would watch entire hours of the Joshua and Comfort show. Especially if I could have special guest commentary by Mia and Debbie Allen. I also really enjoyed Thayne and that guy who did his DOD to Bohemian Rhapsody. And against all odds, I really enjoyed Miss Miami. In fact, she provided one of the highlights of the evening by giving Miss Debbie Allen the opportunity to tell her to put some more clothes on. I am happy that the girl with the cutest grandparents ever got through. I think she's a really talented and likeable dancer. And some of the mystery guests seem like they can bring it - the black girl with the bob and the sick body, the blonde who Nigel thinks looks like Uma Thurman, the light skinned black guy who we didn't see at all. I think it's going to be a really good season.

That was Wade. And it was awesome. Can't believe I left that one off the list.

Oh yeah. "You don't lose. If you lose, you don't cry. And if you do cry, you do it in your room where no one can see." Or something like that.
I did feel bad for her, but she was so out of her league, there! I don't remember how much training she said she had, but what you need for a pageant is nowhere close to what you need to be a competitive dancer, not a competitive smiler!
