All this Bourdain talk is making me want to resurrect my old Bourdain tag ("Reeducation has its limits. And her French ways and lack of blondeness pose a serious problem in future.").
Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Not to change the subject from the food shows (it's getting close to dinner time here on the east coast, and you just keep reminding me I'm hungry! Except for the visuals of Bourdain's extreme adventures in dining.):
For those of us who watch MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew," this Saturday from 2-4:30 p.m. (eastern) they are going to be showing the Casting Special. It looks like that will be the live broadcast, but they will be repeating the bejeezus out of it. I absolutely could not find a link anywhere on their site, but they have the little blobby watermark-type thing up in the corner of the screen on the MTV channel, and the program shows up on the zap2it grid.
So it's the fourth season of that show? Who won besides Amy and Guy?
S1: Dan & Steve
S2: Guy
S3: Amy
Huh. I totally missed the existence of the show in its first season, then.
I liked Dan & Steve - although they were too lowkey for FN.
Did anyone else catch Hell's Kitchen?
FINALLY Matt is gone.
Of the three finalists, Dan & Steve are the only ones whose recipes I've used - they were really great. (Guy has a great TV personality, but his food is too kitchen-sink for me. He doesn't seem to realize that it's okay not to use EVERYTHING in your fridge in every meal. And Amy's food was too much like what I cook all the time anyway for me to need it written down.)
I wonder if they'll rerun the earlier seasons at any point? I'd never heard of it until S3.
They used to rerun them all the time (they made 12 eps, I think), but I haven't seen them on the schedule in a while. The recipes are all still online, though.
