On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Oh, and Ted Allen agrees about Whole Foods:

Now, on this Elimination Challenge: Feed a family of four for ten bucks? At Whole Foods?! Have you ever been to Whole Foods? It costs $10 to drive past the place. I once brought an organic melon to the checkout in a Whole Foods in Chicago, and it rang up at $12! (Needless to say, that melon stayed in the store.)

Ahhahahahahahaha!! Love Ted Allen.

Because books.

Oh, Ted! Man, I miss him when he's not on.

Some more gems from Ted:

So long, Dude From That 70s Show.

He's right! Mark was Hyde without the aviator shades.

And then, just when you were reveling in the drama, savoring a battle well won, and bidding farewell to another talented chef, along comes this random bit of nasty from Andrew: “I have a culinary boner right now.”

Great to know, Andy. Somebody hide the pie.

Bwah!

Art Crawl!!!

People with families of 4 to feed on a $10 budget? Do not shop at Whole Foods.

So, so very true.

But I think Mark when compared to others really didn't buy as much. And sadly, Markwise just hadn't wowed the judges at all. I have to say that I thought that the judges were off in thinking that kids won't eat curry. I bet in New Zealand and in the UK they do. (And surely they do in India PADMA.)

I was v. worried about Stephanie. And kind of pissed off that Lisa is still here.

Next episode looks excellent. I can hardly wait.

Yikes!

How'd I do that?

This season's cast really is potty-mouthed and whiny, aren't they?

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Yeah, but everyone else managed to work some protein in, and even at WF sweet potatoes are pretty cheap.

I think that if he'd had a better dish, they wouldn't have worried about the protein.

I think that keeping Lisa was a producer decision, she will undoubtedly have more friction with Dale, and that 's good ratings.

I think that Spike was less of a douche this ep because they didn't have him talking to the camera as much. That's when he really comes off as an asshole, less in the kitchen.

I'm really not hearing the whiny except for a couple of them (Lisa & Spike especially). No more so then in past seasons and they are loads better than Season 2. Nobody even blinked when the kids came in, for example.

Because books.

I'm thinking stuff like Zoe whining about how Richard's dish must have tasted awful. "If that's what they want, then ..." And even guy-whose-name-I-can't-remember complaining about making tacos fine dining.
