You were very nearly devoured by a giant demon snake. The words 'let that be a lesson' are a tad redundant at this juncture.

Wasn't there a movie? New Jack City? I seem to remember the immortal line, "Sit your five dollar ass down before I make change."

Wasn't there a movie? New Jack City?

yes, there was, and the genre came from the movie. According to Wikipedia

The term "new jack swing" was coined by journalist and New Jack City co-writer Barry Michael Cooper to describe the sound produced by R&B/Hip hop artist and producer Teddy Riley. Riley is an American R&B and hip hop singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. He led the band Guy in the 1980s and Blackstreet in the 1990s. Riley stated that "I define the term [New Jack Swing] as a new kid on the block who's swingin' it," [5].

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Now I can't get "I Wanna Get With You" by Guy out of my head.

Y'know, I remember a song that mentioned the New Jack Swing, but I didn't realize it was actually a type of music...I just though it was that song!!

Would that be "If I Had No Loot" by Tony Toni Tone?

Yes! Yes it would. Thank you, because I had the one line going through my head, but couldn't figure out what it was from, and was about to start playing every early to mid-90s song on my iPod to figure it out.

Not that that would truly be a hardship, but...

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Okay, that makes sense. I definitely know the genre, just not the name somehow. And how does that translate into dance, stylistically?

I also kinda wondered about that with the pop category. Pop seems pretty broad. Is it just the triangular formation, lots of upper body movement stuff?

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

New Jack Swing comin at ya!

Hey! I can repeat a joke I haven't used since the '90s: More like Know Jack about Swing.

Sorry, the "movement" was pretty much a litany of the worst music the '90s had to offer. Blech.
