TAR: Feh. The young couple won. It was one of the best Top 3 in ages, and I can't really complain about the winner, but I still will.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
(I really think they could have won with Don's expertise with the fish, but for the gaffe.),
You really have to love Don. Nick was dithering, and Don just said, "Oh. Here it is."
Yeah, I loved that exchange. Don was all whick whick whick. Nick was all, what, inside? And then Don was like, don't worry, you don't have to get your pretty boy hands messy, I've already found it.
Hee.
I kinda feel bad for Nick, 'cause he ended up with all the responsibility for the fail in the last ep. He forgot the bag. He stood by and watched for the fish gutting. He was by far the weaker up the glacier. And he was the one doing the memory challenge.
Which, by the way, I'm so glad that Team Implosion didn't make it to that point, 'cause it would have been ugly.
Anyway, at the beginning of the episode, I was thinking to myself how the odds were, for once, good that there would either be an older member or a minority winning team. But it was still the young white dating couple. So feh. But oh, well.
Even though it was "the young white dating couple" that won, they all had an equal chance to win at the Roadblock. It came down to memory and brain power, not strength, athletic ability, maze-skills, or taxi-foo that won this race, and I was very happy to see that.

Very much this. I also was glad to see that they won because of Rachel, because she got them ahead with the puzzle.
Also, loved the puzzle. When Phil read the clue, I couldn't believe it. It was confusing. They also need to have more "clues" like the "Cook's eye view" one.
Yeah, it was great. I'm so glad it wasn't taxi-foo, (and it definitely wasn't, 'cause TK & Rachel had bad taxi luck this leg) because I hate that. I loved that it all came down to them all together, racing, but it didn't seem nearly as contrived as in years past.
I declare this the best TAR so far. Not that I've even seen all of them, but this was the first one that made me want to watch the whole thing. I am happy beyond words that Team Implosion, as Liese put it, weren't in the final.
libkitty, have you seen TAR5 yet? That's the one with Colin and Christie, the Bowling Moms, Charla and Mirna (the first time around, before they became more annoying than fun to watch), and Chip and Kim.
As a relatively latecomer to TAR (I didn't tune in until TAR4), I'd have to say that TAR5's finale was probably my favorite until yesterday's, and overall, TAR5 is probably my favorite race so far.
It has all the team characteristics that are now practically cliched on the race--the religious couple (Brandon and what's her face), the intense team (C&C), the low-key but hardworking team (the Moms), the whiners with a satisfyingly early boot (what's-her-face from Big Brother--Allyson?), the standout tough person saddled with a deadweight partner (Charla); great scenery and tasks; the almost-standard heartbreaking 4th place team (the Moms--so sad to see them go!!); and the most nailbiting finale before yesterday (the only thing that would have made that ep better was seeing Colin's reported freakout at the finish line and the car going into the pond).
the standout tough person saddled with a deadweight partner (Charla);
HA! I was thinking "Chip."
I believe they are the reason they instituted the "no one person can do more than 6 challenges" (or something like that)
I liked Kim, but I don't think she did one Detour.
