hip deep in pie

So, I'm very enamoured of How to Look Good Naked. You guys have it yet?

I've been watching the British version in Canada and it's amazing. It's great to see a makeover show that doesn't transform a person into something they're not in a week, but takes time to work with them to learn to love who they are.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

At six in the morning I'm having no trouble getting through Tim's Take.

Ouch ouch ouch:

Christian, I suspect, will have a polarizing effect on our viewers. I write this largely out of projection, because I alternate between wanting to give him a big hug and wanting to give him a sobering slap. In a manner that evoked the discovery of penicillin, he believed that the material he chose (hundreds of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup wrappers), coupled with his design (a mini-dress with a halter and choker), would ensure his win.

Furthermore, he was “finished” hours before the deadline. When I found him in the workroom gloating over his achievement and offering spare-time critiques to his fellow designers, I pulled him aside to suggest that he consider giving his design some more time and thought. “I certainly don’t think that you’re going home (and he won the last challenge, so he had immunity), but I’m not as confident as you are that this design is the winner.” If looks could really kill, I would have been a goner.

Well, Tim was right - it was enough to be safe but not enough to win.

He could have so easily added some gold to it or something. His critiques were not given in a helpful manner.

Awww:

Kynt: "The Amazing Race" is such a beautiful concept. On one hand, it's a typical reality show. It highlights interpersonal conflict and conquest. On the other hand, it's a lot like National Geographic. Every show showcases a different country's landscape, scenery, architecture, culture, and people. There's nothing else like it on TV. We're so proud to be a part of it. And like she said, the chance to travel the world. We don't look at it as loss. We look at what we won. And we won the opportunity to go on a globetrotting adventure across eight legs. We don't feel bad about it. We tend to focus on what we did right as opposed than what we did wrong.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wait. I just started watching the Miss America reality show hosted by Michael Urie from Ugly Betty, and I just remembered.... Vanessa Williams.

Also, the other day my coworker was like, "I don't get what that show is about." I said, "They're beauty queens, he's gay, what's not to get??"

I just posted over in Natter about watching the first two eps of "How to Look Good Naked" on Lifetime OnDemand--to summarize, I liked it! Carson Kressley does do some of his scripted schtick, but when he's being one-to-one with the woman, he's very believable and personable, and actually seems to be someone I wouldn't mind being buddies with.

I love that they take a photo of the woman in her underwear and blazon it (headless) on the side of a building in Santa Monica to ask passerbys what they think, and then show the footage to the woman in the beginning of their week with her. Then, at the end of the week, they take one of the photo shoot pictures and do the same thing, with the woman herself asking people what they think of her picture.
