I did not see that American Idol result but it makes sense.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I thought the AI finale was great and I loved seeing all the old Idols and seeing Randy, Paula, Simon, and Ryan all together on the stage one last time. I felt kind of badly for La'Porsha and Trent because that final really wasn't about them. They got to sing once very early on and then at the end they were back in focus when Ryan announced the winner, but for the most part they were relegated to the background. My highlight moments were Kelly's greatest hits medley, the Fantasia/JHud/Latoya sing along, and Carrie and Keith rocking out. All supremely satisfying. But really, I enjoyed all the Idols past comeback moments. I even tolerated Lee Dewyze on that Bowie tribute which is the first time I've ever tolerated him in anything. I will miss this show, dammit. But it was time for it to go.
The teaser commercial for SYTYCD Junior (or whatever it's called) made me so sad. I don't know if I can, y'all. It was bad. Real, real bad. I very much do not want.
Yeah, I'm debating if I even want to have the TiVo record it, which is a step beyond "record but then delete without watching". I also gave up on Amazong Race this year without even trying.
I will not be watching SYTYCD Rugrat. I dislike reality shows with children generally.
Is that what they're going to do? (I remain oblivious except what I see here.) The auditions will be horror shows.
They are also adding Dance Moms kid Maddie Ziegler to the judges panel and I just don't think I can. It's going to pain me because SYTYCD is my jam. But just...no. No thank you. I mean, I didn't like that they used to let 18 year olds on the regular show, so I sure don't want to see an entire season's worth of dancing babies. I also think they are going to reinforce the very worst competition kids habits and prioritizing of tricks over technique and I am not down with that at all.
Nope, nope, nope, nope.
I'm trying to catch up on 4 or 5 weeks of Project Runway by Tuesday so my poor coworker who has been patiently waiting for me won't have to much longer. Anyway, I need to make notes here because I am already forgetting my opinions about the last runway I watched and that will never do.
So - the resort wear fabric swap challenge: I like Dom's silhouette a LOT but the stripes did not work for me - putting the turquoise next to the yellow mad wit greenish instead of pop. But I loved the top and the shape of the skirt, so I'm not mad at her for winning. The judging was so interesting this round, it was pretty hard to tell who was in the top and who was in the bottom. Everyone was "I love it except for...." and "this I hate but this other part is great" and disagreeing with each other. And I enjoy a good judge wrangle, so that was fun. I'm not sure how I feel about the challenge - fabric choice is so fundamental and yet everyone actually did quite well (even the bottom looks were more boring than terrible) so maybe it worked. No strong feelings about the results.
Fairy Tales: I am kind of unreasonably annoyed that they alled the Beauty and the Beast character "Belle" instead of "Beauty". But I liked this challenge a lot, and a pretty happy with the looks that came out of it. Loved Tinkerbell, Alice, and the Snow Queen. Rapunzel does not have a queen for a stepmother. Just no. Although the dress was not bad, but i didn't love it. Whoever said Cinderella looked more like an evil stepsister/mother was not wrong. I am, surprisingly, tired of black and white with yellow. Huh. Not super happy with the winner, but okay. Can't argue with the auf, although I will miss that guy.
PR: Ath-leisure episode. I think I just don't get ath-leisure. I looked at Alyssa Milano's Touch and it looks like nothing special. So I guess it is not surprising that I am pretty meh on all the looks. Pleased with the winner, but not specifically for this week's look.
PR most recent ep. Maybe I am just tired, but meh on the challenge and the designs. I can see the top looks are good, but they don't speak to me at all. Tough break for Asha, but it's heartening for the show if not for her that she went home for actual design mistakes rather than construction or time management.
