Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Dear PR contestants (or really, not so dear), if one of the judges tells you she sees a bitch fest going on, it might just be time to examine your behavior.
That was painful to watch. Damn.
Also, Blake being the voice of maturity is shocking as all hell.
I would also like to say, there is nothing wrong with that purple color they had to work with.
Happy with who they sent home.
I watched the first of the new Great British Baking Show ... wow ... I think they've gone up to the next level with this series. But they don't know angel cake? even I, who have never baked one, know a lot of the basics.
I'm watching SYTYCD Top 18 (shut up, I'm working on it) and the Jazz number with Edson, Yorelis and JJ is secretly disco. Would have been better if the dancers (and costumers) had realized and embraced that.
Loving the family flea commentary!
Also loved the Team Stage group number. Lots of dancers making beautiful shapes with unexpected lifts and such will always get me.
Oh, judges. You have chosen poorly.
I was 100% satisfied with this top 4 from this years crop of dancers, although it did hurt to Lose Jim. But he really wasn't as versatile as the two girls who made it from Team Stage. I am rooting for JaJa because she just has that magic quality and then Gaby because she is effortlessly gorgeous in everything and then Virgil because I smile ever time I see him and then Hailee because she's great but I can always see her working at it. I wouldn't be sad if any of them came out on top, though, probably because I'm not really deeply invested in any of them. This format was not the train wreck I'd feared, but the whole Stage vs. Street thing just kept me at arms length from the dancers this year. I don't know. It just didn't work for me.
I don't understand why they did the stage/street thing ... wasn't just having dancers from a range of genres enough? or did they want to have kind a gang war dance-off situation? or just find a reason to bring back Twitch?
SYTYCD Top 16
I liked the opening number a lot (love the costumes. Did not realize until I read meara's comment that they were 90s inspired, I'm not sure what that says about my fashion sense)
