I'm not sure if I've become more aware of it or if the SYTYCD people are becoming more blatant, but the cultural appropriation/stereotyping is getting to me. I may have to give up the show - the "geisha" and "ninja" number, the "African Jazz", the Bollywood (although that grates less, I think because it's playing off a commercial interpretation of a cultural dance), but they're going past annoying into offensive. And this is from a middle-class white person ....

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

PR: I like this challenge, I think, but still no Mood! What's going on?
Have y'all watched Ink Master? They do the judging with the contestants in the room! It's bananas.
PR: Is that a record, three episodes in and no Mood? Also, who went home? I fell asleep during judging and can't be assed to finish watching.
They did call that bin of fabric mini-Mood, so it's not like they've severed the relationship.
True. But I want to see the store!
Pistachio went home, Amy.
Who is Pistachio?! I don't even know their names yet, clearly.
Yeah, I am not doing well with names either (she mentioned that was her nickname and I can remember that better than her real name). The woman on the Carribean team.
Oh, the one whose name sounds like "meow"? She was ... not good.
I think I liked her portfolio well enough in The Road to the Runway or whatever that was called, but she has not thrived in the competition.
She was right when she said they didn't need to do a bathing suit, though.
