We rewound and watched that several times.
Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
But it looked like Vegas week only involved hip hop choreography for the street dancers and only "stage" stuff for those dancers?!? That would be awful (though I'm sure some street dancers can't do ANY choreography, so...)
Yes, through Vegas week, they will still be doing the whole separate but equal thing to which I say a hearty "Feh". I don't know if the plan is to start style mixing once the Top 20 kicks off but I sincerely hope so because I will be hot if I turn on the show each week only to see stage kids always dancing like Contemporary or Broadway while street kids only dance hip hop and...I guess more hip hop? I mean, what would that even do? They kind of have to mix at that point because much like stage dancers are not suddenly going to pick up tap or be able to dance en pointe in the span of a week, street dancers won't suddenly be able to turn into b-boys or do bone breaking if they've never done it before.
Also, I'm bored now, but much like with Idol, I'll keep watching until the bitter end. I just don't feel moved to write anything about it, which is incredibly sad because chatting SYTYCD with y'all was one of my favorite things in life!
kat, your commentary is one of the things I most look forward to every season!
I'm getting preemptively crabby that they're going to bring the Queen of Detroit all the way through and then not put her on the show.
I decided to skip the whole auditions segment - I can't stand watching the people who think they can dance but can't and my eyes start glazing over after too many of the same style. Also? two hours is a serious investment for me these days.
I hear you Jesse. She's amazing. And I was so irked at Paula and her "dance like a man" comment. Boy was giving Broadway. It's not supposed to be manly with that music and choreo!! He had a smile on his face and was doing a lot better than the other dudes in his group!!
And he's 18! I feel like half his problem is that he's not actually fully-grown yet.

Yes, I was saying that to my roommate last night also--boys aren't fully mature and grown until they're in their early 20s, a lot of times! He's still a baby!
I'm a week behind on Sing It On , but they made me cry last night. One of the kids in one of the groups committed suicide. I'm still so devastated for his friends and family. Reason number whatever of why I prefer fiction. Dammit.
Oh man, Epic, that sounds rough. I wonder if it'll eventually be online somewhere--I checked TiVo but I don't have that channel or get that show anywhere else. :(
I'm a bit behind but watching the SYTYCD LA auditions now...
