Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Vortex, I figured that was also part of it. It's very amusing.
Yeah, I was really interested in hot water crust, because we're so obsessed with keeping the butter cold for flaky fruit pie crusts.
Cat Deeley on Project Runway! Fun! She didn't have a lot to contribute as a judge, but it's fun to see her.
Don't love the dresses. Or the challenge, really. I mean, bridesmaid dress - is there such a thing as a great bridesmaid dress? I'm never much of a fan of Marchesa, though, (to the extent that it always surprises me when I agree with Georgina) so maybe that's part of it. And actual wedding on the runway is just silly. I mean, two minutes and hardly any guests, I hope that isn't all they're doing.
Loving Isaac Mizrahi being so very critical, though, and I'm content with the winner and auf. Fabric choice, man, mess that up and you are cooked.
Dogs next week! I am looking forward to that.
And, in all fairness, Fabio has been in the bottom several times.
I just caught up on The Great British Baking Show, and I had no idea how different baking was in Britain- I have never heard of most of these things like yeast leaven cakes and hot water pastry, and so much pork IN pastry.
I made my mother watch it, which she thanked me for, and we had to have a long discussion of hot water pastry over dinner last night! Pork pie is a family favorite.

I said something similar upthread recently. So many things I had never heard of (but probably have eaten) despite having traveled to the UK several times.
This sounds more and more like something I need to watch.
Where can a person catch up on this show? Though I'm not sure I want to--I'm still dieting, and very susceptible to suggestion (also, I had to spellcheck to get "susceptible" because apparently I had no idea how to spell it).
