Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I've really liked the less horror-y challenges on Face Off this year, but I'm a little afraid it's because the producers hoped it would promote women on the show. (It's been female winners in seasons 3 and 5, and this is 7, but most of the runners up have been men in all seasons.) But I still think Dina should win! And was glad that the boys did pretty makeups this week.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

your "natural disasters" are earthquake, wildfire, flood, avalanche, and... oil spill.

If they had just worded the explanation differently I would have been fine with that. But they did not.

That said, I really like the concept of the oil spill fairy. Aside from the unfortunate edge placement and a couple other details, the overall look is pretty cool.

I'm starting to be concerned that Dina's stuck in a rut with her head shapes. There's a lot of similarity in her cowls.

The guys who were so worried about doing beauty makeups did great! Nice to see.

It's too bad Stella couldn't overcome all her early molding problems. I feel like losing all that time was really what hurt her look.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

TAR: The dentists got taken down a peg, which they took more graciously than I expected -- and then they didn't have to use their SAVE, dammit.

Bravo to the team (Sweet Scientists?) who figured out that if they transported the tiered cake in two sections and then glued it together at delivery they'd have an easier time of it. Careful reading of the rules for the (literal) win!

Liked also the driving challenge where the point wasn't to get there firstest, but most efficiently, though the penalty geography question wasn't all that hard to find out.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

That save is such BS.

I really wish Phil had kept the save.

"We have trust issues." Mylar

I really wish Phil had kept the save.

I was hoping he would, too. He should've just said, "Well, you didn't need to use the save, but since you were too impatient to wait for me to tell you this was a non-elimination leg, you've used it now and I can't give it back." And then maybe do an eyebrow pop. But no such luck.

I'm also really over the mom and daughter. They can leave any day now.

Most offensive Top Chef ever? First, Todd English (ptui), then they have to "respond" to what they find in the kitchen for a police/firefighters Boston Marathon/9-11 theme challenge?????

TAR: I know they could have picked the other task, but I kind of love that there was something where having just one arm was actually an advantage.

PR: I really liked all four runway shows! I don't think that's happened in a long time. Perfectly happy with the winner.

Face Off - giant monsters, cool! In short, Dina is stil my favorite. I was pleased to find out last week that she's a protege of Anthony, whom I also loved. Always fun when we get to see her using cake decorating techniques in her makeups.

Bummed that George is out. Looked like a tough call this week.
