Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I know Kini (sp?) didn't completely pull off the last challenge, in terms of tailoring, but otherwise, he's getting robbed.
I agree, and I hated the other two that were in the top.
I did love Sean's. And Korina's came out better than I expected it to, although I would have done a pewter dress underneath instead of black.
I meant to say, Amanda's was just awful. I love the concept, but the execution sucked! I have no idea what they were thinking there. And what was the cat suit made out of? Because it looked silk, but that closely fit, it would have to have some stretch in it, right?
Given as much basic black as I wear, and it's a lot, I'm so tired of it on the runway.
I was so disappointed last week that no one pointed out that Kini sewed Sean's top. This week, Kini's design was, I think, more innovative than he's been, but the execution didn't quite work out. I don't think he deserved to be in the bottom for that, but I don't know who of the "safe" designers should have been. They don't always need a top three and a bottom three, if you ask me.
This week - well, I don't think I ever like this kind of challenge. I just can't wrap my head around it. Sean's dress was gorgeous, and Korina's coat is great. I don't really like the black necklace against the black fabric, maybe it looked better in person. She did pick the right necklace for her esthetic, that's for sure. Don't get why they liked Amanda's.
In the abstract, I approve of sending home the "too safe" look rather than the "too ambitious but fell short" design.
I haven't understood any of the times Amanda has been in the top, let alone her wins.
Kini is definitely getting robbed.
I was surprised at how well Korina's turned out.
I was floored when they took the coat off and saw the back. I was expecting nothing much from how she was talking about it while she was sewing, but that was really pretty.
I think I liked one, maybe two of Amanda's designs, although it's not like I remember them now.
Next week looks potentially disastrous.
I like Amanda much more than her designs, for the most part. Her aesthetic seems like Drunk!Betsy Johnson meets meets 70s Crochet or something. She's just so funny and down-to-earth, though, and she really doesn't have the ego some of them do.
Tim saving Char was sort of surprising -- I had no idea he liked her so much -- but so sweet. He was all teary when she had to leave! I love Tim Gunn.
I really like the way the save was presented. That he told her if it was later in the season I'd save you, and it just kept bothering him.
I hope she makes something amazing soon. I really like her but her designs haven't wowed me yet.
Face Off - I don't think they should have saved Sasha. I am liking George more and more each week.
