Oh I can't stand him. And this was both a ridiculous challenge and a ridic time to be handing out immunity. But that's on you, Colliccio.
That's not fair. The judges don't decide what the competition is going to be; that's on the producers. And Tom made his comment to the other judges, not the cheftestants. I think that's fair.
The new season of Face Off starts tonight.
I'm the least cynical person about reality shows, but Top Chef is beginning to feel manipulated. Do they want to boost ratings? Everything's being played for ultimate drama. And I can't believe they didn't keep Nicholas just to prolong that drama -- his dish seemed clearly worse than Brian's, didn't it? And Tom made a point of noting all his other little mishaps.
My favorite moment of the episode was when the kids in the kitchen were tasting Nicholas's dish, too.
Last night was one of the most unpleasant episodes. (Except for the kids in the kitchen.)
I am glad they vindicated Carlos a bit. For all the insinuations (and the cut to Carlos from the editing every time) you turned your oven to 500 your damn self, jackass.
But the quickfire and that judge? What the hell was that about? And immunity going into final four?

Yeah, immunity again was a big surprise, and the quickfire judge was absurd. You asked them to make po boys, not a five-course French meal.
I was so happy to see Shirley and Nina do so well.
I will go left if Nicholas makes the final over Nina. I swear! I couldn't believe that they didn't send him home last night. Gotta be the drama factor.
I am also not a fan of immunity still being in play. I was glad that Shirley won anyway, so no chance to repeat last week's drama.
Chef Roy Choi? No. Way too ready for his close up for my taste.
I do think a Nina/Shirley/Carlos final 3 would be a pretty darn good one. They all seem like talented chefs.
Under the Gunn: It's funnish! I do love seeing Tim, and I adore Nick and Mondo. It's fascinating to see how the different mentors approach mentoring, and what they want their mentees to do (is that a word?).
And any show where Tim chokes up is a good one, I say.
Aw, good to hear. I'm recording it but I have no idea when I will actually get around to watching it. So much TV!

The food truck thing with Jon Favreau and Drago's oysters was in the parking lot of my neighborhood grocery store, Breaux Mart. You can see Salu and Reginelli's across the street. Pretty sure that was staged just for the show, it's not something I've ever seen there.
Also, I love Reconcile, I need to get back there soon. It was closed for a bit in 2012 for renovations (looks gorgeous) and I haven't been back since.
