Yeah, that was seriously messed up.

It was exactly like top sous chef -- very weird. And at the dinner table, I thought the two chefs were actually going to start shouting. They both wanted to win more than they wanted the cheftestants' cooking showcased, I think.

Like you said, Nora, I'm not a Nick fan (at all) but assuming he'd give up his immunity seemed really odd. That's what it's for! It does seem way late in the game to offer it, too.

Nick has been annoying but trying to guilt him into giving up his immunity was absolutely ridiculous. Ugh. I did not enjoy.

Still rooting for a Nina/Shirley final two, so I was glad Stephanie got sent home.

Nick, though, what an asshole. Probably less of an asshole when he's not this tired and stressed, but DUDE. The world does not owe you a fucking trophy just because you cook French goddamn food.

This is the point where you offer cars or cash, not immunity, and definitely not a team challenge. I suspect the network is monkeying with things to make them more "interesting". Nick may be an asshole, but he didn't look very happy about how things came out, though probably because he's thinking "Now I look like an asshole and not a nice guy."

I agree with what all of you had said. The structure of the task was problematic in that it was a team challenge so late in the game, that someone had immunity, and that they received thorough guidance from top chefs. It was just so strange.

I'm not sure why they did all this if not to have a surprise elimination to potentially conquer Last Chance Kitchen.

I thought at the time, and still hope, that was just Jacques Pepin, who is not so tied into the show, saying that. Tom was clear that this is how the game goes.

I am bummed about Stephanie, because she is my hometown contestant! It would be amazing if she wins LCK, regardless of the final outcome, just because of Kristen last year.

I like Stephanie and hope she kicks butt in LCK.

Tom was clear that this is how the game is played but he also said that he was hoping Nicholas would fall on his sword which is just...ugh. Why? If the thought of someone using immunity to avoid getting kicked off was so icky and dishonorable to you at this stage of the competition then just don't hand out immunity anymore as a reward for winning a Quickfire challenge. How about that?

Because Nicholas is an entitled brat and should go home. God I hate him so much. (And not just for this. He's been rubbing me the wrong way throughout the whole competition.)
