Project Runway: once again, I don't love any of the designs. I don't hate any of them either. A lot of meh.
Some of the shoes are really nice, although when I saw those gladiator sandal boot things had knee pads - ugh. Do not like.
The contestants talking about how now they don't have that "maybe Tim will save me" in the back of their minds made me feel better it, but I hope they don't keep that element next season.
Braden really should have gone with his instinct to dress down those flats, fighting that was a mistake he never recovered from. And Jeremy's faux-cable sweater was misguided - also just a bad idea. But I'm fine with who went home - that look wasn't terrible but she's never done anything I really liked, so whatever. I don't get what she's trying to do, whether or not she's successful.
Michael Kors next week! How cute is Tim in referee stripes?
Yes, those flats would have been so cute with some cigarette pants and a great jacket.
I love Bradon. I was willing to see what he did with the dress, but it wasn't right for the shoes. If he had more time to finesse that technique in a full dress, with the right shoes, I think it could be interesting.
I'm at that point where I want a black fabric moratorium for at least a season, too. Speaking of, I was really underwhelmed by Helen's dress. It looked really well made but it was sort of nothing to me.
Yeah, it seemed like the judges mostly liked the capelet. And that was pretty cool and it's probably not super easy to figure out how to get the length and volume exactly right, which I do think she did. I don't know what was modern about it, but I never know what is modern about anything.
I'm with you on the black fabric moratorium, Amy. It's just hard to see why this black dress is better than that black dress on TV.

Hey! (Obligatory goth protest.)
But for PR, that makes sense. Showing design details on black fabric is difficult.
Yeah, I sort of expected them to say the design that ended up winning was boring, based on what I could see on the tv.
Hey, I love black. It just doesn't read that well on TV. And even the judges have a hard time! When it's a really unusual shape or structure it's better (think Christian Siriano) but Helen's dress was just BORING.
At least for one *challenge* they could disallow it.
INORITE?!?!?! My only issue with her solo is that her skirt was too long so that you could not see her magnificent strong legs.
Also, thank you Cat Deely for wearing a camisole under that top so that we can avoid seeing side boob.
